zackzack
Nothing spectacular.Just normal. Horrible reviews for it. How does this compare to CZ12? That movie is pretty big in China
Bob Violence
CZ12 opened with "only" 43m. But it didn't open on Christmas Eve, so it didn't benefit from holiday business on its OD (Christmas and Christmas Eve are quasi-holidays here, in that they aren't official holidays but plenty of families and couples go out in the evening for dinner/movies/shopping/etc.). PS2013 has poorer WOM and is also much less of an action movie—something like 80-90% of the movie takes place in a single location and there's not much of the elaborate stuntwork Jackie is known for. It's closer to Shinjuku Incident and other more dramatic JC films, which is a bit of a problem since the Police Story franchise is more known for crazy action setpieces. A Marvel Fanboy
800m was long dead for PT. Poor WOM killled its legs. Now struggle to $100m or 600m. PS2013 maybe around 450m total. Overall a very poor winter for box office, so far.

A Marvel Fanboy
What? PT alone made close to $100M... $100m is very poor for PT, just on par with 2010 winter blockbusters. This is 2013, when market is doubled. PT was widely expected to do at least 800m yuan. (there were 1.2b+ predictions.) In the past 8 days, the stock volume of Huayi Brothers (producer/distributor of PT) evaporated more than 9 billion RMB due to the diasterious performance and WOM of Personal Tailor. This December is falling 20% behind last year, despite 5000 more screens has added.
