It seems Bai Baihe will win at least five weeks in a row at the summer box office .... (MH alone could win four weeks).

MI5 and IO around Sep 11.

Box office records fall like leaves in Autumn .... who would have thought.

 

Just to name a few off my mind:

 

biggest 3D (MH 173m) and biggest 2D (JBM 138m) OD for local films

biggest 3D (MH 200m+) and biggest 2D (JBM 150m+) single day for local films

most continuous days over 100m (MH 4, JBM 3) for local films

first 200m+ single day for local films

first time two movies doing 100m+ in one day (and it's happening three days in a row)

three continuous days over 300m for all movies

biggest day for all movies both in gross and attendance

first day over 400m for all movies

biggest opening for local films, opening weekend/week (3D MH 670M+/500M+; 2D JBM 400m+ wkn)

biggest weekend for all movies 1080m+

biggest week for all movies almost 1700m+

biggest week for a movie not at #1 (JBM 400m+, TMK 380m+)

biggest day/week for animated movies

......

 

Oh, don't forget that biggest 2nd weekend drop for TT4 and FY (although no audience still remembers them after only a week in release)

 

Summer is saved. Now let's hope August can benefit from this and also increase a little.

unless evening shows are already accounted for by pre sales like last week both should clear 150m.

I think yes - KFP as far as i recall was 3 years ago and the market grew.

on the other hand..if kung pu panda "only" scored 92 million in China, I don't see Minions topping that..or maybe because of how the market is developing but I still think if KFP only made 92, then Minions will probably be at 75 million.

KFP2 was released 4 years ago, not 3. Market is drastically different now. People here are saying that KFP3 can beat F7. And DM2 already did $50m a year and a half ago. I have few doubts that Minions will beat KFP2.
