I never got the hype about China and JW2, the presales were extremely low even if we accept that this isn’t a presales driven film. How this was going to do 300 million, which is quite close to IW, I have no idea, seemed like blind faith to me, it’s not like it’s f&f or anything.

Jw did $230m but could have done $250m with extension.SH and FF have flattened overall for the last 3 years, but JW is more GA. With 70% more theaters built in the last 3 years, mostly in 3rd or 4th tier cities  it was possible it could increase like local GA films. .

That 8.5 from Maoyan is kinda like 4 or 4/1’2 out of 5 stars. Don’t drop too much, movie. Please?

Midpoint excluding presales should be around 5PM (IW was at 4.45PM). By 5PM, it had added 123.2-59.7 = 63.5 today. So it should finish with 123.2+63.5 = 185-186m.

134.6M @6PM. FK did 11.4M for 5-6PM as compared to 16.8M of IW. IW did another 85M or so after 6M. So FK should add another 57-58M. 

 

Headed for 192M.

so $29 odd od for FK. i have no clue how this 4-day works but guessing:

$29 + $41 (+41%) + $35 (-15%) + $25 (-28.5%) = $130 4-day (835 yuan)

 

hoping for $140 4-day (900 yuan) but that needs at least $30 od (192-193 yuan) followed by +50% sat.

 

edit: updated as monday was too optimistic

It jumped 11.8 from 9 to 9.30 which is not normal. Then it did only 1.5 in the next 10 mins. Maoyan numbers are being wacky right now.
