Writer Travis Beacham Talks about the Graphic Novel PACIFIC RIM: TALES FROM YEAR ZERO, Showcasing the Film’s World, PACIFIC RIM 2, and More

We’re very actively talking about it.  We’ve had several meetings talking about it.  That’s sort of a testament to how invested we are in the whole thing.  Even before we knew what we were going to do or we saw the reaction to the trailers, we were still fans of the world and talking about what a sequel might look like for a while, and really interested in seeing where the characters will go and what will happen to the universe after the movie.

We're definitely talking about it. Just as fans of the world and fans of the material, you know you fall in love with characters, and you fall in love with the universe as a viewer. You naturally start to wonder: what happened beforehand, what happened after the credits, and what happened in a few scenes in between? We've talked about some of that, not only as the creators, but also as fans of the material. So we've naturally been wondering since the beginning what happens next and some of the conversations have been getting more serious and more formal. Yes it's definitely something we're talking about.

Was from a tweet from James Gunn. Was talking about how that was going to be Rocket Raccoon. Hopefully ends up big, looks like it will deliver.

The most impressive Kaiju was something being dubbed "The Bishop." With four arms and webbed wings, this epic-sized creature could be the one on the other side of the rift calling some of the shots. We were told that this Kaiju was one of the "Precursors," one of the Kaiju responsible for the monster invasion of Earth, which creates a much bigger overarching story. We have no idea how much of this will actually be covered in Pacific Rim proper, but there's clearly a larger back story going back to the world where they came from, something Guillermo would hint at more when we spoke to him later in the day.

Are you working on a sequel to "Pacific Rim?"'

Yes we are working away but right now we are paying attention to promoting the movie.

But it's still something that you're actively developing?

To a point. Travis and I had so many ideas for this movie and a lot of them went into the comic books but a lot of them didn't. We want to go again, to places we weren't able to go in this one. All I'll say is that you're going to see Gipsy Danger 2.0
