riczhang
I think grosses were muted for Red Pyramid because i was egging on for Electric to finish actuals I call bull on that, 50 million is about as high as it could go considering the release date. It's the beginning of April not the middle of July. Besides Electric wouldn't do that.
CJohn
In the real world, things should be like this. Look at the amount of 40M OW we had since the beginning of March! (I am counting with Paradise Lost).Summer should be A LOT of fun! Edited November 26, 2012 by CJohn
Electric
I did May... most of you are asleep but might as well put it up now. :)May 7 -May 9:Next Dimension didn’t quite do what J.J’s Abrams past hits have done but it was close to the first Interconnected, which made 71.7 million in Year 1 during the first weekend of May. El Sombrero opened about as expected for its wide release, with 7 million. The Cinco De Mayo tactic worked well, though had it waited until Friday, it would have claimed third place.1. Next Dimension: 65,293,454 (1st week)2. Oro: 44,316,045 (2nd week)3. Men of Night: 8,271,335 (3rd week)4. El Sombrero: 7,118,223/10,346,103 (4th week - May 5-6 numbers included)5. Chuck Norris: 3,233,050 (5th week)6. Hot Wheels: 2,819,960 (4th week)7. Red Pyramid: 1,822,663 (6th week)8. Madonna: 1,313,523 (3rd week)9. Silent Invasion: 1,101,405 (4th week)10. Godzilla: 791,453 (8th week)May 14 - May 16:Next Dimenson’s strong hold allowed it to keep first place from a couple of weaker films. Blue Beetle opened on the low end of expectations, but movies about minor superheroes are never a guaranteed hit. Magic Money did well due to the lack of animated films. Oro’s positive WOM has kept it going strong.1. Next Dimension: 37,924,618 (2nd week)2. Blue Beetle: 30,153,834 (1st week)3. Magic Money: 28,137,496 (1st week)4. Oro: 28,124,583 (3rd week)5. Men of Night: 4,859,923(4th week)6. El Sombrero: 3,104,615 (5th week)7. Chuck Norris: 1,515,408 (6th week)8. Hot Wheels: 1,074,681 (5th week)9. Red Pyramid: 954,668 (7th week)10. Madonna: 573,491(4th week)May 21 - May 23:Despite a star-studded cast, Espionage Project couldn’t break out big, but it still managed to win the weekend. Magic Money and its kid-friendly charm pushed it ahead of Blue Beetle. 1. Espionage Project: 39,025,389 (1st week)2. Next Dimension: 23,478,391 (3rd week)3. Oro: 17,929,806 (4th week)4. Magic Money: 17,323,651 (2nd week)5. Blue Beetle: 16,103,504(2nd week)6. Men of Night: 2,550,194(5th week)7. El Sombrero: 1,668,347(6th week)8. Chuck Norris: 777,405 (6th week)9. Hot Wheels: 543,537 (6th week)10. Red Pyramid: 514,231 (8th week)May 28-May 31Here we go! Holiday weekend. 39 Clues hits it big, more than doubling the second week of Espionage Project for an easy first place. Career Buster opened about as expected, and despite the lack of R-Rated comedy it didn’t end up as the next Hangover. 1. 39 Clues: 55,713,623/68,563,191 (1st week)2. Espionage Project: 24,557,901/29,536,024 (2nd week)3. Career Buster 22,275,429/27,153,642 (1st week)4. Next Dimension: 15,305,661/19,155,446 (4th week)5. Oro: 10,741,629/14,321,934(5th week)6. ChD
well but thats just weekend numbers right?Yes... Daily numbers (Mon - Thu) are not counted from what I know ... I've never seen someone count them in at least. With Daily numbers, the first 4 movies (currently) would be over 200M Domestically..
CJohn
We loose a lot of money with not counting daily numbers
ChD
We loose a lot of money with not counting daily numbers I agree with that, but it's up to the one doing the actuals. He can do any way he wants it. Anyways, I think that opening weekends are high (certainly higher than real life) enough to cover the daily grosses... (well... some of it) Edited November 26, 2012 by ChD
CJohn
Godzilla will barely have a 2.0x multiplier <_<I thought at the end of the year we would get the final tally of our movie with dailies and OS gross added. The person doing actuals then does domestic and worldwide totals (incorporating his/her view of dailies into the domestic numbers). Any other numbers you see from other players are their own speculations. Edited November 26, 2012 by 4815162342
riczhang
Brilliant legs for Oro, 40% second week drop followed by 2 drops in the 30s. And a great opening for 39 clues, sequel has been officially greenlit.
4815162342
Ouch for Blue Beetle.Poor Andrew Stanton, I think that was his first live-action CAYOM film too. Good thing I have something in mind to rehabilitate his image. :ph34r:EDIT: I see that Spaghetti has him directing The Stuff of Legend in Year 6 and CJohn has him directing an Elder Scrolls film in Year 8. So it might be that he'll be rehabbed without my intervention. Edited November 26, 2012 by 4815162342
Electric
June 4-6:The kids are out of school and they’re in theaters, seeing Summer Wars. Killer Husband still managed to draw decent crowds. In theaters, kids would see Summer Wars as their parents saw Killer Husband. 39 Clues manages to hold on pretty well despite another PG-rated film opening.1. Summer Wars: 42,337,249 (1st week)2. 39 Clues: 30,397,353 (2nd week)3. Killer Husband: 22,234,953 (1st week)4. Career Buster 15,035,915 (2nd week)5. Espionage Project: 14,639,813 (3rd week)6. Next Dimension: 8,665,558 (5th week)7. Oro: 6,327,415 (6th week)8. Magic Money: 5,328,607 (4th week)9. Blue Beetle: 4,613,701 (4th week)10. Men of Night: 717,063 (7th week)June 11-13:Both of the openers performed solidly, and Career Buster is showing some strong legs, with just a 34.1% drop from the last weekend. The lack adult-oriented comedies is really keeping it going!1. Stories from Eden: 41,598,206 (1st week)2. Double Chromosome: 34,102,466 (1st week)3. Summer Wars: 26,634,363 (2nd week)4. 39 Clues: 18,814,137 (3rd week)5. Killer Husband: 13,056,364 (2nd week)6. Career Buster 9,907,164 (3rd week)7. Espionage Project: 7,293,554 (4th week)8. Career Buster has just a 25.5% drop due to the lack of similar films. However, another animated movie coming out drags Summer Wars down quite a bit.1. Chris Smith and the Island of Dinosaurs: 47,539,157 (1st week)2. Stories from Eden: 21,348,199 (2nd week)3. Legally Blonde: 21,083,652 (1st week)4. Double Chromosome: 19,230,381 (2nd week)5. Next Dimension: 2,972,884 (7th week)June 25-27:Now this is summer! WoW: Cataclysm beat all but the highest expectations set upon it and is the year’s first 100 million opener. While the first WoW opened in December amid several fantasy movies, the open spot in June was much better for the second part. All the other films began to drop faster due to WoW eating into their demographics, particularly Espionage Project and Career Buster.1. World of Wacraft: Cataclysm: 106,893,932 (1st week)2.
