Warner Bros. Philippines press release:

According to J.R.R. Tolkien, a hobbit like Bilbo Baggins has an average height of three feet and six inches. This week, Baggins and the rest of the hobbits, dwarves and elves in Tolkien’s universe are standing tall as the Philippines joins several other countries in breaking box office records with “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”.

Directed by Peter Jackson and produced by New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), the film soared to the top of the Philippine box office in its opening weekend, earning P55 million on more than 300 screens, including six IMAX theaters. The figure represents the biggest opening ever for any film in the canon of “The Lord of the Rings.”

So around $1.3 million, not bad.
