Weekend numbers thread (close between TH and DU 31.5-31 so far)

Recommended Posts

Even though Les Mis will approach a 70m 6-day opening frame, it's flaming out quickly. I'm curious to see if this indicates large drops in the weeks to come or the film is just burning off demand right now. Django's doing splendidly. It's legs are going to be... what's the phrase I'm looking for... OFF THE CHAIN!

I owe you some likes when I get back on a damn PC!

TH:AUJ's small Sat bump is in line with FotR and TTT (or generally that's how it works during the Christmas week); next week we may see whether TH:AUJ is indeed a Saturday movie.just few days from OD, all of a sudden my 145-150m prediction seems too generous for LM~~"DU looks to be able to soar past my expectation (around IB's final gross).

As long as WOM is as strong as I think it is, competition won't be much of a problem for Django.

You may be partially right, but just looking at everything else, I think DU is going to lose more audience to both Gangster Squad AND Haunted House than any other of the top films right now.

Haunted House is a flop in the making. And I think Gangster Squad lost a bit of steam when its release was delayed. I don't feel the anticipation for it like I did late last summer. There's also the matter of director Ruben Fleicher being a big question mark (sure, Zombieland was funny, but his last effort was a big misfire). The cast is promising, and I'll watch Gosling in anything, but the trailers come off as formulaic and a little over-the-top.

I really dont undrstand the Les Miz disappointment talk. As Jajang said just because you expected it to make 170 mill it doesnt qualify as a disappointment if it does 125-150.
