First non-holiday weekend of the year is here. 1917 debuts at #1 and it's looking strong with amazing WOM and the other 3 new releases miss out the Top 10 (Lighthouse, Pavarotti and Current War). Family films are suffering and last week adult releases hold strong

Pre-sales for tomorrow with 3 new big releases (4 theaters tracked)

BAD BOYS FOR LIFE - 333/4.859 tickets (6,85% sold from 4 theaters)

Comp here is Knives Out with 173 tickets sold which translates to €1.34M OW. Terminator: Dark Fate sold 49 tickets in the theater I've always tracked and BBFL sold 43 (DF did €1.3M) so my guess is ~€1.2M OW

JOJO RABBIT - 77/3.532 tickets (2,18% sold from 4 theaters)

The film is being released wide with more than 200 theaters. Richard Jewell sold 48 tickets (it was New Year's Day) so the comp is a bit screwed. Let's use KO again for JJR and it translates to 311K. ~325K OW would be a safe guess with €1,6K PTA

MALASAÑA 32 - 144/2.437 tickets (5,79% sold from 4 theaters)

Spanish horror film from Warner Bros with lots of advertisement on national TV. This could be the dark horse of the weekend surprising everyone. The film is selling better in one theater than JJR and BBFL so it could impress. It's doing 8x The Grudge and 4x Black Christmas. Verónica, another Spanish horror film with buzz did 694K on August 2017 so ~700K OW would be amazing for the film.

1917 could retain the #1 spot if it doesn't fall too much and Bad Boys disappoints.

Pre-sales for tomorrow with 4 releases (4 theaters tracked)

DOLITTLE - 572/7.228 tickets (7,91% sold from 4 theaters)

Well, this doesn't seem bad. Comp here is going to be Jumanji 3 with 887 tickets sold (€2.43M) which translates to €1.56M and that seems possible. Film is being heavily marketed everywhere with ads on national TV, billboards, bus stops in every corner of Madrid. €1.5M OW

DARK WATERS - 51/1.666 tickets (3,06% sold from 4 theaters)

Comp here is JoJo Rabbit with 77 tickets (528K OW) which translates to 350K OW and that seems reasonable as the film is not being promoted a lot and hype is a bit muted.

TE QUIERO IMBECIL - 6/723 tickets (0,83% sold from 2 theaters)

Spanish romcom from Filmax. It's going wide (+200 theatres) but with small screens. Lo Nunca Visto, another comedy from Filmax did €184K last year, so we can expect similar numbers from this and low top 10. €195K OW

EMA - 0/450 tickets (0% sold from 1 theater)

Small Chilean indie film. Out Of Top 10

Pre-sales with 6 new releases (4 theatres tracked):

ADU - 85/2.785 tickets (3.05% sold from 4 theatres)

Spanish film from Telecinco. El Cuaderno De Sara, a similar film from Telecinco did 968K two years ago. 1M OW would be the target and this could be the wildcard of the weekend.

UNDERWATER - 43/2.307 tickets (1,86% sold from 4 theatres)

Horror flick with Kristen Stewart. The film flopped everywhere and Spain would be no different. Malasaña is the comparison here (144 tickers for 965K) which translates to 288K but I think walk-ups would be actually good. 330K OW

JUDY - 24/2.140 tickets (1,12% sold from 3 theatres)

Dark Waters would be the comp here which translates to 125K but that is horrible and so low. 250K OW

DONNE-MOI DES AILES - 23/905 tickets (2,54% sold from 4 theatres)

French adventure film released wide (+200 theatres). Mia and The White Lion seems like a good comparison. 175K OW would be ideal

THE BIG TRIP - 21/778 tickets (2,69% sold from 4 theatres)

Russian animated film being released widely but with only 2 showtimes per theatre. Comp here is La Gallina Turuleca which sold 27 tickets but with only 376 seats available. 85K OW

WAVES - 0/360 (0% sold from 1 theatre)

A24 flick. Would do nothing at the BO. Out of Top 10
