The Stingray
JFK is imo without a doubt, the best edited film ever. It's brilliant. Its certainly up there.
Jake Gittes
Battleship Potemkin and The Man with the Movie Camera. Never been as hypnotised by a film as when watching those two. Soviet montage does that to ya. Most recently, TSN and The Bourne Ultimatum were both master-classes in editing (and rightfully won Oscars for it), and Speed Racer, Scott Pilgrim and Cloud Atlas all approached it in a fresh way and knocked it out of the park. Going a bit back in time, Goodfellas is another film in which editing is a very crucial element done brilliantly. I really need to revisit JFK. acsc1312
Can't believe I forgot that. Most of Hitchcock's works are impeccably edited. Rope as well.Yes! Rope is my favorite Hitchcock film.
acsc1312
If it really does come down to Argo vs Lincoln, I hope to God Argo wins. I don't think either should win by far, but Lincoln would just kill me.

CloneWars
Within the past 10 years, the PGA has had a 60% success rate of determining the Oscar BP winner. For the past 5 years, the PGA awards have had a 100% success rate at determing the winner. Within the past 10 years, the Golden Globes had a 40% success rate at determing the BP winner, effectively making the GG the kiss of death for an Oscar. Within the past 5 years, the GG has had a 40% success rate for determing a winner. GG and PGA awards have lined up with these films over the past 10 years: ROTK (went on to win BP Oscar) The Aviator (Million Dollar Baby won that year) Brokeback Mountain (Crash won that year) Slumdog Millionaire (went on to win BP oscar) The Artist (went on to win BP Oscar) Within the past 10 years, the PGA and GG lined up 5 times. Of those 5 times, 3 times they lined up, the winner went on to win BP at the Oscars. Based on this, Argo has a 60% chance winning at this time. However, there are other factors to considered such as Argo's low Oscar count, LoP have second most nominations, SLP's nom in every category, and Lincoln leading both in BO and nominations. Also, Argo does not have a BD nom. Still seems like we have an interesting race with no clear winner.
