Except for this weekend...it needs a write-up.

August 26-28: "Giant Opening For Norris and Neeson"

The event flick of the month came, saw, and conquered. "Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs. Giant Spiders" combined two hit B-movie franchises into an epic loaded flick of Biblical proportions, and it paid off. The film hit it high with an opening that blew the top openings of both franchises out of the water. Landing in first, the film nabbed 61.4 million. It was a roaring success, although it fell short of some of the most optimistic projections, which placed the film on track for 80-90 million. The film couldn't quite achieve those heights due to its run time and excessive B-movieisms. Yet, because of its absurdity and huge cross over appeal, the film hit it huge and dominated on this closing weekend of the summer. It delivers a round house kick.

September 2-5: "The Immune A Box-Office Outbreak"

Labor Day weekend didn't come with a whimper this year. "The Immune" sequel "Global Outbreak" topped the charts. The sci-fi/thriller debuted to the tune of 41.2 million over its first four days in release. Already, it is outselling its predecessor, and word-of-mouth is on par with that film, averaging a B rating. Males accounted for approximately 66% of the viewings. The other opener, "Swag", lacked swagger. The teen-themed comedy debuted weakly in fifth, below studio expectations (but in line with some tracking figures) for 7.1 million over the four-day. The comedy lacked any crossover appeal and had a very limited marketing campaign. Meanwhile, "Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs Giant Spiders" saw the expected huge drop. Labor Day saved the raunch fest a bit, as it added 26 million. Its total stands well ahead of the other movies in the two series through the same point in time. "Subway Nest II" had a better hold, down 32% for almost 17 million. And "Cyber" took fourth with a very respectable sub-20% hold this week, down to 11.3 million.

[*]The Immune: Global Outbreak: 35,018,283/41,201,339 (NEW) [*]Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs Giant Spiders: 23,079,583/26,122,039(2nd week) -62.43%/-57.48% [*]Subway Nest II: 14,067,741/16,850,049 (2nd week) -43.41%/-32.28% [*]Cyber: 9,698,392/11,321,845(3rd week) -27.69%/-15.59% [*]Swag: 6,244,049/7,148,059 (NEW) [*]Aquaman: 5,810,656/6,642,855 (4th week) -45.09%/-37.22% [*]Wrinkle in Time: A Wind in the Door: 4,741,001/5,401,039 (5th week) -27.82%/-17.92% [*]Avarice: 3,736,773/4,301,039 (8th week) -33.59%/-23.56% [*]Vampire Academy: 2,412,847/2,773,030 (3rd week) -49.82%/-42.13% [*]Guardians of the Internet: 2,319,168/2,758,059 (5th week) -38.61%/-26.99%

September 9-11: "Texans Hate Zombies, But Audiences Love Texans Hate Zombies"

The second uber raunch fest in half a month slammed into theaters this week. Awareness was high over the past few weeks, and excitement was feverish for this epic B movie of all B movies. "Texans Hate Zombies" gobbled first with an awing 41 million haul, well ahead of most tracking estimates. The advertising campaign promised an outright, balls-to-the-wall, epic gorefest of ridiculous B-movie quality, and it delivered. Males accounted for a huge 74% of the audience, and people aged 18-24 made up 81%. Overall, it was a huge, albeit frontloaded, success. Friday sales accounted for almost 50% of the weekend gross, nabbing 20.2 million (including 1.4 million in midnight sales). This week's other two openers didn't fair quite so well. Documentary "The Life and Death of Amy Winehouse" fell on the lower end of expectations but still posted a solid start for a doc, adding 4.7 million from 1,878 venues across the nation. But "Whorehouse" was an epic failure. The NC-17-rated pic didn't have any appeal, and it fell short of the top ten with a sub-1 million gross from over 1,500 venues. "The Immune: Global Outbreak" led the holdovers, down 57% to 15 million. And "Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson" took another epic hit, over 60% again for 8.4 million in third. "Cyber", however, continues to chug along with great holds.

[*]Texans Hate Zombies: 41,082,330 (NEW) [*]The Immune: Global Outbreak: 15,215,443 (2nd week) -56.55% [*]Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs Giant Spiders: 8,412,508 (3rd week) -63.55% [*]Subway Nest II: 6,862,244 (3rd week) -51.22% [*]Cyber: 5,808,367 (4th week) -40.11% [*]The Life and Death of Amy Winehouse: 4,650,059 (NEW) [*]Wrinkle in Time: A Wind in the Door: 2,911,923 (6th week) -38.58% [*]Aquaman: 2,775,750 (5th week) -52.23% [*]Avarice: 2,118,377 (9th week) -43.31% [*]Swag: 1,791,418 (2nd week) -71.31%

September 16-18: "High Life Immortalized Champ"

With summer wound down, we're not looking for many blockbusters any more, but audiences still turned out to the latest tragic romantic film. "High Life" hit is big with the chick crowd, and fell in line with studio expectations. Posting a solid 21.4 million, the acclaimed film easily nabbed first on this slow weekend. Females accounted for 64% of the audience, and people over the age of 25 made up more than 57%. The other opener "The Shepherd and the Daughter of the Sun" didn't have much flare to it. It opened decently in 3rd with 7.9 million but lacked the zest to reach in-house expectations and tracking figures, which set it for a sub-15 million launch. And "Texans Hate Zombies" took a hit. The epic B-movie zombie bash was expected to take a huge hit after its frontloaded performance last weekend, so its near 70% fall wasn't surprising. The film still outdistances most expectations, adding almost 13 million in second.  "The Immune: Global Outbreak" led the rest of the holdovers with 7.6 million, and "Subway Nest II" climbed above "Norris and Neeson" this week to round out the top five.

[*]High Life: 21,393,857 (NEW) [*]Texans Hate Zombies: 12,895,744 (2nd week) -68.61% [*]The Shepherd and the Daughter of the Sun: 7,871,083 (NEW) [*]The Immune: Global Outbreak: 7,571,204 (3rd week) -50.24% [*]Subway Nest II: 3,884,716 (4th week) -43.39% [*]Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs Giant Spiders: 3,751,137 (4th week) -55.41% [*]Cyber: 3,692,959 (5th week) -36.42% [*]The Life and Death of Amy Winehouse: 2,797,010 (2nd week) -39.85% [*]Wrinkle in Time: A Wind in the Door: 1,907,600 (7th week) -34.49% [*]Aquaman: 1,634,084 (6th week) -41.13%

September 23-25: "To the Moon Aims For The Stars"

It was a hot weekend for the critically-acclaimed animated darling "To the Moon." Families didn't quite turn out in the droves they would have for a summer release like "Sir Thymes Time", but the film still garnered heaps of attention for its unique take on the genre. The film launched into first with a remarkable 31.8 million haul from 5,600 screens at 3,700 locations. The film averaged an A rating with viewers, according to Cinemascore polling. "Kaleidoscope" opened in fourth place. The comedy lacked much flare and had a wimpy marketing campaign, so audiences didn't really tune in to it, giving it only a 5 million start. Still, it was higher than "Mumford and Sons: Babel", which couldn't quite reach "fun. Some Nights'" launch from January. The concert documentary opened to 4.7 million in sixth. "High Life" had a great hold, down just over 30% for almost 15 million in its second week. In contrast, "Texans Hate Zombies" took a huge hit again, down once more over 60% for 5 million and a third place finish.

[*]To the Moon: 31,840,559 (NEW) [*]High Life: 14,586,331 (2nd week) -31.82% [*]Texans Hate Zombies: 5,129,927 (3rd week) -60.22% [*]Kaleidoscope: 5,051,443 (NEW) [*]The Shepherd and the Daughter of the Sun: 4,834,419 (2nd week) -38.58% [*]Mumford and Sons: Babel: 4,650,550 (NEW) [*]The Immune: Global Outbreak: 4,021,066 (4th week) -46.89% [*]Cyber: 2,396,361 (6th week) -35.11% [*]Subway Nest II: 2,367,734 (5th week) -39.05% [*]Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs Giant Spiders: 1,919,832 (5th week) -48.82%

September 30-October 2: "Audiences Go To Halloweentown"

Although it wasn't quite as big as its predecessor, "Halloweentown III" still opened in line with expecations at 25.5 million. Meanwhile, the other sequel "The Fall 2: Back From The Past" dropped from its predecessor from last year as well, opening in thrid with 10.8 million. The real success of the weekend was "To the Moon", which held remarkably well, down less than 35% for another 21 million in its second week. "High Life" averaged another solid hold, down 27% to 10.6 million.

[*]Halloweentown III: 25,506,833 (NEW) [*]To the Moon: 20,931,983 (2nd week) -34.26% [*]The Fall 2: Back From The Past: 10,833,049 (NEW) [*]High Life: 10,640,728 (3rd week) -27.05% [*]The Shepherd and the Daughter of the Sun: 2,841,672 (3rd week) -41.22% [*]Mumford and Sons: Babel: 2,527,574 (2nd week) -45.65% [*]Texans Hate Zombies: 2,337,708 (4th week) -54.33% [*]Kaleidoscope: 2,183,739 (2nd week) -56.77% [*]The Immune: Global Outbreak: 2,126,741 (5th week) -47.11% [*]Cyber: 1,585,911 (7th week) -33.82%
