Jack Nevada
Fuck it, here's my stupid-early predictions Tom Hanks - Captain Phillips Chiwetel Eijiofor - 12 Years a Slave Robert Redford - All Is Lost Bruce Dern - Nebraska Oscar Isaac - Inside Llewyn Davis
Ezen Baklattan
Bruce Dern will winCrap, I forgot about him. Nebraska is going the Comedy route, too?
Sam
After watching All Is Lost, I totally root for Redford in the race. Though I have yet to see other contenders like Mcconaughey, Leto, or Dern.

ChD
Seeing Daniel Radcliffe even being considered for Best Actor nomination, despite it being too crowded, makes me happy. That man has a great career ahead of him
Jake Gittes
If Phoenix is in, I think Dern might be out. Or at least if he got snubbed it would surprise me less than if it happened to Redford, McConaughey or Hanks.
Blankments
Eijiofor won't win, he's too young and tbh Hanks gave the better performance (not that Hanks will win either)
Jake Gittes
Ejiofor is 36 now... plenty of actors won in this category when they were in their late 30s or younger. Brody, Crowe, Cage, Hanks, DDL (when he won his first), William Hurt, De Niro, Nicholson (for Cuckoo's Nest), Richard Dreyfuss were all aged 29-39 at the time of winning. Age is not an obstacle. Jake Gittes
Redford I could see, Dern almost certainly not. Also, this may just be heat of the moment, but I think Phoenix could be something of a threat if the Academy gets really taken with HER and his performance in it is truly on the level of his best work. In general the combination of late release and huge early acclaim does give the movie that air of an underdog that enters the race late but ultimately shakes things up.
forg
I think Matthew will be the frontrunner. I hope Hanks win a couple of critics groups awards though and maybe SAG
pieman
It's between Ejiofor and Redford. I don't see anyone else coming close to those two.

Blankments
You guys are counting one (or rather two from the same man) performance that hasn't been seen yet that could shake up the race: Christian Bale
pieman
You guys are counting one (or rather two from the same man) performance that hasn't been seen yet that could shake up the race: Christian Bale Nah, field is too crowded. He won a few years ago so I can't see it happening again.

Jessie
Tom Hanks should be nominated for Captain Phillips. Best performance I've seen in a long long time.
