Jack Nevada
But honestly I dont think either have that much of a chance. It's gonna be a year of older ladies.

Impact
Current: Blanchet for Jasmine Bullock for Gravity Dench for Philomena Thompson for Mr. Banks Who knows if the Academy got perverted maybe for the other film Okay still thinking of the 5th spot-Roberts for August maybe
baumer
For some reason I think August will disappoint in every way this year. None of the performances look all that appealing to me.
The Panda
For some reason I think August will disappoint in every way this year. None of the performances look all that appealing to me. The reviews have been lackluster as well, I am seeing it get maybe an acting nod for Streep and maybe one for Martindale and that's about it. (Also a screenplay possibility) I can't see it getting a best picture nod currently, especially with all of the competition for the last couple slots. SchumacherFTW
I'd love to see Adele Exarchopoulos get in, she was astoundingly good in Blue is the Warmest colour.
Ezen Baklattan
Having seen the big frontrunners, my favorite was surprisingly Amy Adams. Shame that she might not even get nominated.
riczhang
Having seen the big frontrunners, my favorite was surprisingly Amy Adams. Shame that she might not even get nominated. Eh..... Not a big fan of Hustle. It was decent and solid but nothing extraordinary. My favourite of the year probably has to be Dench in Philomena or Berenice Bejo. forg
^ not Streep in August? I think Cate has this in the bag already
stripe
Today, it's been a wonderful actress' day. First, I've seen Blue Jasmine. Wonderful perf from Blanchett!! And now just finished Sophie's choice. So heartbreaking,,, Streep's perf in that movie is beyond amazing.
stripe
Crazy year Judi Dench Cate Blanchett Sandra Bullock Emma Thompson Meryl Streep Barely out Brie Larson Adele Exarchopoulos Amy Adams
CoolioD1
Goddamn. I really think that if Short Term 12 had played at Sundance and gotten a better distributor then Brie Larson would be a shoo-in for a nomination a la Jen Lawrence in Winter's Bone or someone as "the indie choice". A shame.
Jake Gittes
Not sure even that would've sufficed in a year as strong as this. Look at Elizabeth Olsen in 2011. If Winter's Bone had been released in 2013 with Lawrence being an unknown, I don't think she'd have gotten in either.
CoolioD1
Can't compare those films tbh. MMMM wasn't "academy friendly". Short Term 12 is more-so.
