Rudolf
Concerning what animation movies for children will work we all have been terribly wrong at times. I doubt anyone has a perfect record of all successes and flops. Medieval settings, female heroes, dialect narrative: that could all be detrimental. But there are examples in the past that that need not be the case. At the moment I think Brave will do 225/400 DOM/OS with good European numbers. It all depends on how children and their accompanying parents see those puppett-caricatures. They remind me a little of Asterix (french comic), but does Brave have this multitude of well drawn characters? The only thing we know is that it is about a rebelling princess. The Atalanta mythos comes to mind.
A Marvel Fanboy
Tangled numbers for this.
kayumanggi
As always I could be wrong but I expect more "boys" will watch this than with TANGLED.
Magic
Tangled numbers for this. Seems like a good comparison to me.
Mayhem2x3
$200 million is a low bar to set for a Pixar movie. It should be expected to pass it. Yes, our previous discussion was simply by an inch (Rat, Wall-E) or a mile (Up, Cars)? Edited April 17, 2012 by Mayhem2x3

iEye
I agree with the Tangled comparisons but I'm a bit wary of what happened with animated movie's last year. It wouldn't shock me if no animated movies reach 200M again this year.

AniNate
And that wasn't even a very good movie. So there's no reason Brave shouldn't be able to reach the mark.

AniNate
Let's just say I'm assuming Brave will be a much better film
Jack Nevada
Tangled wasn't that big of a hit, wasn't it? I mean 260M Original budget + 150M or so for marketing= 400M total So it never made all of its money back. Theatrically, at least.
AniNate
Brave won't have a $260 million budget

iEye
If I had to guess, I'd say the budget will be the same as Cars 2 (200M)...
Mayhem2x3
Let's just say I'm assuming Brave will be a much better film Absolutely The Lorax was a lot of dumb fun, but a lot of us like dumb fun. And I think Tangled was as much of an investment in Disney Animation's brand as simply just another theatrical release. People loved it a lot more than anything Disney's done in the last 10 years. It was worth the budget IMO--so long as they continue making top notch films and build on it
