kayumanggi
Damn it. Still need to wait until August.
whoot
I'd wait until IA4 hits before predicting the minimums... I should have said, I'd wait until MM hits before predicting the minimums... 52% drop this weekend?? Ouch.
Jack Nevada
I may have to see this a few weeks after its released, I'm going on a vacation.

Where are you getting that number? The Friday thread's moving too fast to keep up. Not that I'd believe the numbers anyway, but still... If this were to drop that much, the movie has no one to blame but itself, as much as it pains me to say it. Pixar films have withstood far worse competition and a couple of R-rated comedies should not be a problem for a PG-rated animated adventure. Yeah--Friday thread can be crazy; please post Brave # here once it's out? I don't see any number for it yet except for a pre-friday prediction of 30-35M. Mayhem2x3
Is no number yet for a 2nd weekend on such a big film potentially a bad sign? Maybe moms across america left dad/kids at home to watch MM, while young adults all went to see TED.
AniNate
Deadline's last update was at 4:30. Not exactly a great time to make an accurate estimate for a kids flick on a Friday. There should definitely be one in their next update, though. Edited June 30, 2012 by tribefan695
MovieMan89
I have a feeling that the four openers effected this very little. I mean honestly, what audience could they have possibly stolen from it? I guess some of the teen maybe, but that's a very minimal part of Brave's audience. I think it will be OK. 45% drop at worst.
lab276
Well, the generally accepted reason for KFP2 not doing as well as it could have is TH2.
MovieMan89
Well, the generally accepted reason for KFP2 not doing as well as it could have is TH2. Not generally accepted by me. Awful marketing on DWA's part, it was shown to have a visible drop off in female appeal from the first, and last year sucked in general for animation at the box office. KFP2 still had the 2nd highest animated OW of the year. This year 3 animated films have already blown it sky high.
AniNate
There's really no reason whatsoever for Brave to drop bigger than 50% this weekend. It has much less of an excuse than Cars 2 did, and I'm not even sure that movie had much of one.
whoot
Ted opening to $50m, MM in the mid to high 30s... That likely does not bode well for Brave, does it? Most I see is $35m, which is barely under 50%.
kayumanggi
It's a flop!
MovieMan89
Looks like $35-37m for the weekend. Should get a good Sat bump, especially if the openers are hurting it since they will all be decreasing tomorrow. 45% drop isn't bad, about on par with M3's 2nd weekend drop. MovieMan89
Here's my trajectory for the weekend with the Friday number: Friday: 10.5m Saturday: 15m (+42.9%) Sunday: 10.9m (-27.3%) $36.4m (-45%)
