While there were a few new releases on this week's DVD Sale Chart, one of them dominated so thoroughly that the others pale in comparison. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 opened with 2.83 million units sold and $42.22 million in sales. This is about 800,000 more units than Part 1 sold during its first week of release, and it is already in fourth place for the year. And this doesn't take into account the Box Set, which placed 13th with 98,000 units / $4.82 million. Cars 2 was pushed into second place, but still did very well selling 764,000 units and generating $12.03 million for the week and it has now sold 2.65 million units for total revenue of $41.69 million after two. Barbie: A Perfect Christmas opened in third place with 331,000 units / $4.62 million. Barbie is one of the most reliable franchises when it comes to DVD sales. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 rose to fourth place with 282,000 units / $1.83 million for the week giving it totals of 6.09 million units / $81.43 million after about seven months of release. At the moment, it is the second best selling DVD of the year. It has a shot at top spot, but Part 2 should overtake it shortly. The Change-Up debuted in fifth place with 244,000 units / $4.64 million. It was a disappointment at the box office, so this result is not surprising.

As I said, the Harry Potter Box Set earned 13th place with 98,000 units / $4.82 million. It was also the only other new release to chart.

Is that blu-rays or dvds? I don't think TDK sold 6.5m blu-rays since 2 years ago, blu-ray market wasn't as big as it is now.

I´m pretty sure that he means Blue ray´s... And i think that 6,5 mill sounds like a possible number. But most of them are sold for a cheaper price
