Disney’s expecting an opening weekend in the $25 million range. “Pete’s Dragon,” starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Oakes Fegley, carries a moderate $65 million budget and opens day-and-date in approximately 30% of the international market, including the U.K., Italy and Russia.

" Pete's Dragon continues Disney's current live-action winning streak with an update that gives the original a visual overhaul without overwhelming its sweet, soulful charm. "

Can you really say it's a "winning streak" when the last film was rotten and a flop?

I hope the failure of Alice 2 taught Disney a lesson about making unnecessary sequels and overspending on their blockbusters... oh who am I kidding here?

They'll give the next Pirates a 300m budget, and when that movie disappoints, Depp's career will finally be finished with.

Disney really should have switched Alice 2 with Pete on the schedule,

Would have been a nice break between a lot of excitement, especially if Angry Birds wasn't already there, but the counterprogramming to SP this weekend will probably surprise us.

Yes, nobody gets it right every time at bat.  But...they're doing damn good overall.

Unless they mean Disney live action specifically excluding Lucasfilm and Marvel.  Then...well, less so.  Lest we forget Finest Hours too.
