The Stingray
To me there's a difference. I love Tremors, its one of my favorites (#36), but I wouldn't call it better than for example Argo.
mattmav45
When the majority of users on this site are under 20, a fanboy of some nerdy franchise, or genuinely think that film has only existed post-1990, there's really no point in ever trying to do Favorite Movies list, IMO. There are some great film fans on here, but the majority of voters would just lead to the list being bogged down by fanboy-driven films of the last 10 years. 4815162342
For me there is definitely a disconnect between Best and Favorite. Empire Strikes Back is easily my favorite movie, but I wouldn't say it's one of the Top 50 Best Films Out There. Another example- Independence Day. I enjoy the shit out of that movie and will watch it if it's on. It's incredibly cheesy and campy and by many objective measures a mediocre film (acting, writing, etc). Don't care, I'd still call it a favorite even if it won't come remotely close to any Best List I will ever make.

fishstick
I honestly never found much distinction between the two. To me my favorite movies are basically the best movies I've seen, and vice versa. Favorite is most enjoyable, something one likes to revisit again and again regardless of general opinion. In my case, Memento is one of the best movies I`ve seen but I prefer to watch Breakin` every time it`s on MMM. It`s a shit Flashdance-meets-Karate Kid knock-off and I can`t get enough of it. I mean, it has a scene where a character tears off his sleeve, rolls it and ties it like a bandana while street-dancing at the Broadway dance competition! You have no choice but to love this forever and give it advantage over Memento which doesn`t have such a gem. Or the one where the same sleeve-to-bandana character, in order to show his protege that dancing is where the heart is, takes her to a guy with polio who break-dances on his crutches. Like, freakin masterpiece of cheese. Seriously, everyone should worship this movie. You really aren`t a movie fan if you don`t. redfirebird2008
So you really like Batman. Good for you. Couldn't leave it off the list. It was one of the first movies I saw in the theater (3 years old) and I watched it repeatedly as a child, probably over 1,000 times.

I still keep my Batman '89 batmobile. haha, mine is in bad shape but my parents still have it at their house. Plus the Batwing from 89, Wayne Manor/Batcave from Returns, and the sewer vehicle. The coolest toy was a sports car that had Bruce Wayne in it and when you pulled on the spoiler, it would turn into a version of the Batmobile with Batman in it. Here is a review of it that someone put on YouTube: So freaking cool when I was 6, haha.

4815162342
Another favorite of mine to watch: The Mummy (1999). Infinitely rewatchable no matter what. Goldsmith's awesome music helps a lot. It could have been the next Indiana Jones with different monsters/paranormal aspects each film. But sadly the franchise went downhill.
Jake Gittes
The Mummy was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and I think I'd still enjoy it today. It's very fun and somewhat scary (well, for a PG-13 film; the scene where that one guy loses his glasses and is alone in the darkness with the mummy always freaked me out) with a great old-school adventure spirit. All the actors are completely game for it, the score is great, and unlike in the sequel, there's no overwhelming CGI and no annoying children. It was sad to see not only the franchise go downhill, but Sommers' career as well, because the guy was really good out of the gate with Deep Rising (one of my favorite monster movies) and The Mummy. I remember sorta kinda enjoying GI Joe, especially a month after the completely godawful TF2, but it still wasn't the same.

Ozymandias
Deep RIsing and The Mummy are really great and fun movies insane repeat value. I still remember seeing The Mummy at the theater way back in 99. These are the kinds of movies critics either simply don't understand or are paid to trash.
