Hiccup's Critical Review Year 7

Recommended Posts

That was the point! It was supposed to be a ridiculous camp fest. :D

Besides, Burton was only executive producer, James Bobin was the director.

Well I do think Burton can get just as much credit if he's producing the movie.

Anyways,

Exclusive Preview at Next Year from O$corp Pictures! The futuristic sci-fi film directed by Joseph Kosinski King’s of Cataclysm has just been announced by O$corp Pictures. Filming will begin shortly and the cast has been announced as follows.Josiah- Liam HemsworthKimberly- Nina DobrevLogan- Jamie BellGrace- Mia WasikowskaJacob- Shiloh FernandezPresident James Stanton- Michael FassbenderGeneral Andrews- Mark StrongLydia- Michelle PfeifferDarius- Morgan FreemanScott- Daniel CraigKing’s of Cataclysm takes place in 2084 A.D. The world is divided into four section. Irania, which is a Muslim theocracy, which dominates Europe, Africa, and Middle East. China a democracy, which dominates the Pacific and Asia. South America is dominated by Brazil mostly but houses “refugee” countries from Europe and the Pacific and these countries are either socialist states or totalitarian states. North American is ruled by the USA, which is a totalitarian state. Within the USA the rich are kept separate from the poor in large cities, which only the wealthy can live in. The poor people are scattered across the polluted rest of the country. Religion is non-existence and not tolerated (only Islam remains in Irania and Christianity and Buddhism the two remaining other religions are both very thinning scattered in the USA and China). Sensual pleasure, media and athletic entertainment, and gambling/drug abuse are the chief pleasures of the wealthy while the poor struggle with low paying and poor conditions on farmers and factories which help supply the wealthy cities. With potential war with China, environmental disasters looming, and rebellion of the lower class a constant threat, it seems like the USA like all great civilizations will not last forever."The film plotline follows Kimberly who is taken from her family at the age of 21 to be a slave for a wealthy family living in Washington D.C. There she learns about the culture of the wealthy and the government. She learns that most of the wealth especially the younger ones are completely ignorant of the life outside of the cities. She begins to draw the attention of not just the entire city but of a boy named Josiah who is the son of the wealthy family. Meanwhile rebellion of the poor class is rising in the air around Washington D.C and Kimberly finds herself in the middle of a brewing war, which will decide the fate of the 308 year old nation."King’s of Cataclysm will hit theaters and IMAX locations in May Year 8.

Heavy Rain- This is definitely no To the Moon however ChFloppit still proves that he is a strong writer with Heavy Rain. I am surprised how much I enjoyed this film. The story is strong and holds your attention, the acting isn’t great but good for a video game adaption, and the script is well written. I can’t see this make waves at the Oscars but it definitely is one of the stronger films of Year 7. My only problem with the film is the pacing, occasional bad dialogue, and sometimes shaky acting.

Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson vs. Santa Claus, Ultimate Badass- These movies haven’t been my thing and this new mash up is just as bad the as previous films. The acting is way too cheesy and the film is too campy for me. I also got really bored even during the first “film”. Not complete crap but pretty close.

I can’t wait to see Santa Claus, Ultimate Badass 2 though! Now that will be epic fun :) :) Bring it on!!!!!

I honestly don't see what's the difference between the Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson movies, which you hate, and movies like Santa Claus, Ultimate Badass, Giant Spiders, and Texans Hate Zombies, which you love... whatever, happy you read it regardless. :)

I just never got into the whole Chuck Norris/Liam Neeson badass thing. It just seems lame and boring.

Santa Claus being a badass/foul mouth bastard is original in my mind. Texans fighting zombies is hilarious and stereotypical. Giant Spider is scary and pays tribute to classic B-movies. Chuck Norris and Liam Neeson films are any of the above.

I think that the newest installment was the best one yet actually. Currently sitting at #3/4 on my list of 84. And I thought that it definitely was so much better than Santa Claus Badass which I felt was just odd and weird.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe- This installment of The Chronicles of Narnia is good but not great. The visuals are amazing and the ending battle sequence satisfying however the script and dialogue are often choppy and dull. The cast themselves are well picked but fail to deliver a good performance. The costume design, score, and visuals are the strongest points of the film. Rupert Wyatt does an excellent job with the visuals. I didn’t like Ralph Fiennes as Aslan and that was probably the only cast mistake. Altogether, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a solid definitely flawed fantasy film that families and fans will enjoy during the holiday season.

Shiloh- Definitely an under-dog film of the year, Shiloh is a terrific film with strong acting (Chandler Canterburry), captivating plotline, and a well-written script. I urge you to go out and see this film over the crowded holiday season because it is worth your time and money.

The Rise and Fall of Julius Caesar- Filled with spectacular acting, breathtaking visuals, and thrilling plotline, The Rise and Fall of Julius Caesar is an Oscar film if there was ever one. The film is the very definition of historical EPIC and easily sails above and beyond Alesia. Definitely a must see for the holiday season and for the year!!

I'm kind of angry that Shiloh gets a 9/10 but Amulet gets a 5.8/10. In fact, ALL of my other movies are getting reviews by Hiccup and yet Amulet is the odd man out, and that's my main OC until Shipbreaker gets done.

I don't know why you should be angry....disappointed yeah that is understandable. It is simple. I didn't like Amulet at all...it just didn't work for me. It was boring and a drag to read through. I am not going to be pressured or blackmailed into changing the rating for a movie I simply didn't care for because that would be really unfair on my side. I have an opinion and should be able to share it freely. Remember Alpha it is just 1 review. The film got a C+ that isn't a death sentence.

On the positive side, Amulet got a better rating than Pixar's Cars 2 according to RT

*Waiting for a 5/10 or less for The Wanders as Alpha's revenge*

Very very happy you enjoyed it so much. Obvously I still have to give Imperial Dawn the makeover treatment, but I imagine this will definitely be my best of the three movies. Hope others feel the same way. :)
