  1. 11 AM: The importance of the international box office for Hollywood has never been more evident than in these weeks leading up to the official May 1st start of the summer movie season. Universal’s 2D Battleship doesn’t open in the U.S. until May 18th but it’s having another strong week at the overseas box office where its month-early debut in 28 international territories and China now bring the film’s total worldwide estimate to $72.2M and close to $100M through Sunday. Pic now opens in 24 territories. Russia opens today and early estimates predict $2.1M for the day (equal to Fast Five‘s opening day). The film released in China Wednesday and grossed an estimated $3 million on its first day for the studio’s best opener in that country (ahead of Fast Five‘s $1.7M first day which was also a Wednesday).

  2. Okay, I've yet to see one completely positive review on Battleship. But according to many people on Twitter/Facebook/Forums, the movie was quiet good. Nothing as bad as the critics portray it to be. Obviously everyone is making a big deal about the fact that it's based on a board game and is basically Transformers of water....but that doesn't mean it's a TERRIBLE and LACKLUSTER movie. It's certainly not a bore, I imagine. I haven't seen it yet, but for those who have, what do you think?

  3. Why isn't this in 3D? Just wondering. 55m and 58m is basically the same thing if you asked me lol....in the broad scheme of things...it could have been WORSE! :unsure:I just hope Russia and China pull in some big numbers PLEASE GOD...and it does better than expected in the U.S :)

  4. I hope the promotional campaign is even bigger in the U.S. Rihanna will be on SNL on May 5th, so maybe she can squeeze some promo in or maybe some sort of skit pertaining towards Battleship.....but yeah...it would be great if the entire cast could have hosted SNL on May 5th!With immense promotion...this could push Battleship's projected domestic sales to about 200-250m......people hardly know what the movie is about.

  5. More likely to be Wed-Sun at this point... :(

And I had my hopes up.....all I guess we'll just settle for a decent outcome...nothing terrible and nothing GREAT either......I wanted it to SLAYYYYY though. Critics are trashing this movie every single day...I have yet to read one good review...and I wished Battleship's performance prove them wrong....
