I hadn't been on here for years but started checking the Top Gun numbers several weeks ago. The ridiculous moderation here is the worst I've ever seen. Double standards, taking things too seriously, just a shit show. This will probably get me banned since they take themselves too seriously. Oh no...

The fact that Paramount still wants TG2 on P+ asap says a lot about how the dumb executives look at things.
You shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet.

Well, there will be no Game 7. Bad news for the Celtics ( 😔 ) but good news for FD.
Great news for Downton Abbey.

Moderation
@noknobs You don't have to like these movies, but you don't have to go after others for what they decide to watch, especially since plenty of viewing patrons are giving out criticisms toward the movie. Don't do this again.
Anybody else want to act like a fool right now? Because I'm ready for it.
What on earth are you talking about, I didn't go after anyone. I tried to answer someone's question. Sorry you don't agree, but not liking my opinion is no reason to issue me a warning.

You can't judge a film until you see it lol.
I've seen the others, seen the trailers, seen the reviews, heard reviews from others... No way am I going to pay to sit through that again. I was just trying to answer their questions.

Just finished JWD and my worst fears were realised. This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Granted, I fell asleep a couple of times somewhere in the middle, but I saw enough to seriously wonder what the hell they were thinking. How did they manage to make dinosaurs an afterthought, all the callbacks so tedious and forced (Nedry's canister? REALLY??) and the OG cast so charmless and redundant (Poor Sam Neill, he must be so embarrassed after this and also they tried to make Ian Malcolm an action hero (?)).
Where has all of Chris Pratt's charm gone? I guess he is just the most boring white str8 male protagonist ever now?
How can they have ten (TEN!) people trying to get away at the end? Who were we supposed to identify and care for more? Why was the acting so wooden, the pacing so off and the direction so lacking? Is there a new trope about strong black lesbians in blockbusters nowadays? Do they think that's LGBTQI representation?
Jurassic Park was one of the first movies I saw in cinemas and the experience has been very precious to me. Of course this new, hopefully last, sequel is not enough to ruin my childhood or anything, but it is so sad to see that magnificent idea devolve into this. It doesn't deserve to do well at the box office, and I hope it plummets.
Sorry for the rant.
I think the answer to most of your questions is that you, along with millions of other people around the world, keep buying tickets and it will gross well over 1b worldwide. People don't hold lazy/shitty filmmaking accountable if there are dinosaurs. They know this, so might as well try to appeal to the lowest common denominator and throw shit at the wall.

It’s a nightmare when the posts are small. Each post is sandwiched between four identical ads for washing machines for me on mobile, so I often just scroll past them.
The desktop version is much better, yeah.I get them on both my phone and laptop. I understand the necessity for having the exact same ad in between posts 3 times, you know just in case I missed the first 2, but once we get to 4 or 5 it becomes a bit excessive.

Some of my favorite comments so far:
"In an almost impressive display of ineptitude, Dominion combines the very worst vices of its predecessors in addition to a few new ones for good measure."
"There’s not a single moment of genuine dread, fear or even mild unease."
"At one point Ellie looks at a captive Whateverasaurus and gushes that the wonder of seeing dinosaurs “never gets old.” It’s not really a good sign when a movie has to narrate for its audience what they are supposed to be feeling…especially when there is such a disconnect between what the characters say they feel and what emotions the film actually elicits."
"It’s not so much a movie as an extinction-level event for the franchise..."
"'Jurassic World Dominion' is a disaster 29 years in the making."
"I can’t imagine this is the last we’ll see of the franchise. As they say, life finds a way. Hopefully next time they’ll have actually figured out what they’re doing."
"Dominion becomes its very own Jurassic Park: Designed to thrill and enchant, it instead becomes a ride to survive."
"The few moments that do involve dinosaur and human interactions are repetitive chases that do little but reaffirm the invincibility of headliners and the utter impotence of what are supposed to be ultimate killing machines."
"Orchestrating two bland, wholly disconnected plotlines, Jurassic World Dominion reduces all of its legacy characters into blank sheets of paper walking through plot developments..."
"To quote Dr. Malcolm, “That is one big pile of shit.”"
"Turgid, messy, and hilariously stupid..."
"The Jurassic World franchise may have willingly chosen extinction with this final entry, but Dominion would've killed it off anyways."
"If anyone actually wants to see a genetic locust biochemical farming movie with their dinosaurs, Jurassic World: Dominion is the only genetic locust biochemical farming dinosaur movie of the summer."

Where are people getting <60m from? Like this is a common narrative I see on Reddit as well, why do people think that another wide release will suddenly kill all the momentum that this film, one that has overperformed all and any expectations prior, in it's third weekend. Like I just can't grasp how people are still lowballing even after all the massive prediction blowouts
How on earth is $60m now considered lowballing!? Wtf
-
60 million this coming weekend would be incredible given that the big dumb dinosaur movie is taking so much of the IMAX and other PLF screens. -33% weekend when a huge blockbuster is being released, that's crazy. People talking about 70m are just setting themselves up to be disappointed in the amazing.

Christopher Robin embargo is the same day as when the movie previews. it will likely get bad reviews.
I know a few people who have seen it. People actually walked out. Said it was one of the worst movies they'd ever seen.

Don't believe for a minute that Cruise...or any other star of an action movie..does all his own stunts. That is crap. The studio is not going to risk really serious ,permanent injury to a star. The finiancial risks are simply too high. They only do relatively safe stunts, where the worse risk is maybe a broken bone and three weeks in a cast. The really dangerous stuff they do not do.
You should watch this video in its entirety, I think you'll change your mind.

Saw it last week, very good.
There's definitely something about knowing you're watching actual actors do stunts and watching practical effects that makes the action so much better. I have no idea how they pulled off some of the shots.

I sure hope this movie doesn't get a sequel.
They've already green lit a project tentatively called "An Odorless Place" for 2020. Plot is being kept under wraps.

I heard a rumor that the next trailer was going to debut before xXx but doesn't look like that happened. Anybody know when the next trailer comes out?

I think it looks funny, mimicking 21 Jump Street isn't the worst idea in the world.

The way those aliens move reminds me of the first lord of the rings. Outside of few city wide shots that was pretty underwhelming.
I saw an unfinished trailer of Ghost in the Shell about a week ago and I was much more impressed with the visuals, let alone the story.

How were the actors and the story?
The acting was fantastic I thought, especially Adams. Like I said, I thought the story had a lot of interesting and unique ideas about if something like this were to happen. I won't give any specifics obviously but suffice to say I just thought it was intelligent and compelling. Will need to see it again.

I saw this today and LOVED it. Some very interesting ideas in it. The director is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
