Reactions have a real 45% on RT kind of energy. Should still do fine enough financially I guess.
Eh I'm getting Aquaman vibes from the reactions. Weak script but high spectacle and world building that will leave people wanting more. Even some of the weaker reactions have said it's at least fun.

Hmmm yes that's what I'd like to hear
-
Big spectacle and action and people are loving Rock and Brosnan. Nice
-
Dany Garcia and The Rock hyping the hell out of the post-credit scene. It's finally happening....

Audiences didn't love aquaman and the second one will have a far more tepid response
Also avengers is by far the most influential cbm of the past decade. Its what started the mania of every studio trying to create a shared universe
Audience hate watched Aquaman to becoming the highest grossing DC film of all time. Got it

People forget this. MOS is super influential for this. Remember the Pacific Rim sequel where they added citywide subterranean elevators to evacuate the city?
That one was especially egregious. It's one thing to complain about unseen casualties in capeshit but in a Kaiju movie? Nah that's should be par for the course I fear

They never expected the film to have a free fall in reviews after the initial 88%. Btw, they knew the film was bad, the test screenings were mixed at best and word of it had come out in early 2020.
TSS had its oscial media reactions lift 21 days before release. So WB has a general idea about the reception the film will get. With ww84, they banked on the blockbuster drought due to the pandemic. It didnt work.
All true. A lot of those initial social media reactions for WW84 spoke less on the quality of the movie and more about being happy to be in a theater again.

Collet-Serra's last movies:
The Shallows-78%
Jungle Cruise-62%
Non Stop-61%
Run All Night-59%
The Commuter-55%
I forgot Jungle Cruise was just a 62% on there, I really liked that one.

The pic is very hot on tracking now, like a one-eyed giant in the land of the blind. Meaning there’s nothing else like it right now. The movie is strong with guys over and under 25, then women under 25, Latino and Hispanic moviegoers and families. If the pic exceeds $68.1M in its domestic start, it becomes Johnson’s best solo opening after 2001’s The Mummy Returns in which he had a cameo as The Scorpion King.

My fellow Latinos pulling through the hype love to see it! -

It's still on the $55-70M range from BOP. If true, it's great for him.
If this performs even in the same vicinity as the first Venom, I'd consider that a win.

Ok cool thanks.
Has there been any idea of reactions or any leaked information with scoopers? I’m trying to find something but there seems to be nothing really.
It's tested pretty well, I even know someone who saw it back in December who praised the scale of the action and said that alone will be worth the price of admission.

I’m guessing next week?
Fan screening in Canada on the 13th and I think the NY premiere as well so we'll know more by then.

The footage they showed at the fan event in Mexico looked awesome.

I was talking more about audience reception, I had the feeling fans were divided on the film, because it didn't deliver what they were expecting. I didn't mean to suggest a DC vs MCU comparison (I actually liked Multiverse of Madness a lot). I just feel like there wasn't an universally well liked family comic book movie since No Way Home (from Marvel or DC) and if Black Adam can deliver on that, maybe it would have a pretty good word of mouth.
Rock is very good at delivering 4th quadrant movies so if this has good characters, simple story, and big action, it will do fine.

Black Adam | October 21, 2022 | New Line | Don't worry, it's a hit. Dwayne Johnson says so!

Most capeshit movies would kill for Aquaman-level box office and speaking for myself, Aquaman has a ton of charm and rewatchability. I'd rather a movie succeed in what it's trying to be than fail in what it's not.
