It's getting great reviews and it sounds super awardsy. I'd be surprised if it hasn't been picked up for a year end release this time next week.

  2. Warner Bros. Backs Johnny Depp's Whitey Bulger Movie Over Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's Version

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has come aboard to co-finance and distribute worldwide the true crime movie Black Mass, which has Johnny Depp set to star as the notorious Beantown mobster. What's notable about this is it means the studio has effectively killed their own in-house Whitey Bulger movie that was to have been directed by Oscar winner Ben Affleck, starred Matt Damon, and was scripted by The Wolf of Wall Street and The Sopranos' Terence Winter. Yes, Warners just screwed over their new Batman.

According to Deadline, "Affleck and Damon were given a day or two advance notice that the studio was putting its eggs in the Black Mass basket, but that news came just a day before the latest draft of Terence Winter’s script came in. Naturally there are bruised feelings that Warners will have to repair with two of its most valuable players, as this was the first project pitched for Affleck to direct and Damon to star after Pearl Street inked its overall deal there, and I’m told the studio assured the pair it wanted to make their movie."

  3. Apparently they greatly overestimated foreign potential of Oz. Who the hell is Oz? Too few people knew and even less cared. Great and the Powerful? That sounds really lame.

I think in Latin america, it might do well enough. Oz is far more popular than Alice (the first movie is a classic, Judy Garland and her ruby shoes, even with stage musical, etc, etc). Hope, it won't dissapoint in all these markets

  4. No, I'm not tired at all

He's the best in what he does...and no one can do what he does better than him! ^_^

There are great actors and movie stars playing serious characters -_- ...you have Leo playing dramatic roles; George Clooney playing himself as no one else could! :D ; Brad working with great scripts, etc, etc...why do you want Johnny doing exactly the same that the 99 percent of the actors in the world? just for the satisfaction of whiners that when he does normal characters, they never go to see it? ("Rum Diary"? "The Libertine"?) <_<

I think DS is a special case...a mediocre movie in between a big blockbuster sensation (Avengers) with a very bad (and late) marketing...not everything can be attributed to Johnny's characters! -_-

  5. Where are these reviews for Hugo?

    My favorite part is:

"Scorsese received an enthusiastic standing ovation when he was introduced, just as he did again today after a DGA screening for a Q&A moderated by James Cameron, who told him Hugo was a “masterpiece.” He added, “finally there is a Scorsese film I can take my kids to.” And Cameron also told Scorsese it was the best use of 3D he had seen, including his own films."
