  1. Good movie that have some problems. 1 and 2 acts are not great or bad merely sufficient. The third act belongs in a much better movie and if the build up had been better it had really hit hard.

Action scenes are all good and the empire always has the upper hand. The rebels fights using ambushes and infiltration as they have to. The universe feels alive and big.

The main problem for me in the first two acts are missing character development. Instead of characters interacting we get monologues and big speeches that feels out of place. The pacing is too fast for them to have the time to be flesh out. The movie jumps around a lot and it suffers from it. If that time had been  better used towards trying making the characters feel real and having them interact more together. We get embryos to really interesting characters in Donnie Yen and Jiang Wens duo and they play of each other well in the few scenes they get. If we only got some, not all but just some of there backstory. The droid has some moments that works really well and some moments that feels out of place (jokes that fell flat).  Forest Whitaker feels out of place. Ben Medelsohn really tries but has to few interactions with the rest of the cast. Gets throw around by Vader and CGI Tarkin al lot. Mads, Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed doesn't have much to do. Even Felicity Jones character feels unfinished. She does a good work with what she is given and improves the material.

The score is perfect for the big actions scenes but feels wrong in the smaller ones. It's like it tries to make walking through a hangar into a glorious last charge.

Some unnecessary fan services like always and jarring CGI faces that feels wrong also took me out of the film but in never gets as bad as in the force awakes. Vader is used economical and effective.

  2. Another problem I have is the pacing of the "epic" scenes. In ANH they had scenes like the "that's no moon, is a space station". The death star slowly grows bigger and bigger, building the tension (the great score helps). In TFA all those is too short. Abrams cuts and moves on too fast.

His direction  works in the comic bits but not in the large than life moments.

Read through the whole thread. I get the criticism, and much of it is completely warranted, but I don't care. Outside of Hux, Phasma, Maz (really thought she didn't work, like at all) , and Snoke, every new character was fantastic. I completely forgive it's flaws and pace-killing middle act because of how invested I was in the characters. There hasn't been a blockbuster in a long time where I cared about the characters this much. It's the perfect setup for the next films.

That like half of the new characters.

  4. I was born in the 90's the first Star wars movie I saw was ATC. It left no mark on me. I was like 17-18 when i first saw OT. For me they has alwasy been very good old movies that has stood the test of time(ANH and ESB, ROJ was never more than a good movie).

My expectetion of the TFA was on my scale a 5, not good movie or bad movie.  A fun crowd pleasers that was a  functioning movie that borrowed a lot from the OT.

What we got was a reboot that simply copied AHN. They removed part of the puzzel and added new( some that work other that didn't) but the story was the same.

The first and second act works on that plane. Rey was a good protagonist, a hero in the making. So far the TFA was a good movie but not as good as the original from 1978.

The ending of this movie is the problem. It simply dosen't work. Rey beats Kylo=heros journey complete. Her skill equal that of Luke after his traning and kylo looks like a fool not a threat. There are no conflict left and still the only thing the ending trys to do is to set up the next movie.

PS. R2- D2 is the greatest troll in the galaxy.

But Luke's the maguffin.. That's he whole point, right???

He is but the movie forgets that after 1 hour and only remembers it at the very end. The ending are... I don't have words.

After sleeping on the movie I  think it only gets wors. Like if R2-D2 wasn't the biggets asshole in the galaxy they would have found luke after two minutes.

Kaylo Ren is a sensitive teenager, everytime somthing dosen't go his way he starts destroying machinery around him. Stormtroopers are in one scen almost laughing at his back.

It like a house with a beautiful exterior but it supporting walls are ready to go at any time

No to mention that I think my Light Saber/Excalibur Theory makes sense.

Rey has a Force moment and all of a sudden, she s possessed by the Light Saber.

Finn also hits kylo, so I just think Kylo "The living faboy" Ren is like how a real fanboy would be if he was in the movie he loved so much.

That's because it was.  That and the dumb nods to the audience about the previous movies.  I was expecting some and JJ didn't disappoint(unfortunately).

The worst was Han asking if there was a garbage chute or a trash compactor.  He may as well have literally winked at the camera right then.  Ugh.

That and the scen when R2-D2 woke up and was "the last pize of the puzzel" was the the worst. The ending is bad.

As a fan, I thought he went out like a bitch. Sad end for the coolest character in the Galaxy...

Come on guys, put me out of my misery regarding Han. Is it true and how did you feel about it (as a fan).

Han solo deserve better. They had the chance to make his death mirror that of Ob-wan but they mest it up.
