Trevorrow will make us proud... He's a fan like Abrams.. I'd worry more about Rian Johnson..

I have a bad feeling about giving Rian Johnson full writing duty, but it's done, I would have liked to have Kasdan some oversight.  Kasdan said he knows Johnson, and said he will come up with some weird thing.

And Trevorrow is only directing 9, Johnson is writing both 8 and 9.

  2. I like it, about 40 of these are in my top 100 as well, I've seen 97 of your top 105 and just by your list I think guessed you age.:D

I have seen and rated about 2500 movies so far.  I actual have a list rated from favorite to least favorite, crazy I know, and after 300 it's just difficult and silly.

These are the 8 I haven't seen.  Angel Heart, The Pianist, Schindlers List (yeah I know, You haven't seen Schindlers List?!? Yup I haven't seen it...lol) Silver Linings playbook, Armageddon, The Prophecy, The Princess Bride and Extreme Prejudice.

Surprised to see Christmas Vacation, but no Vacation? Wolf on Wall Street but no Wall Street?  Interesting...

  3. Everyone has different opinions on favorite Star Wars or other movies, depends greatly on when, where with who, age etc you first saw it.

My first movie ever in my life and in a theater was Star Wars, I was amazed, it was almost like a life changing event.

So for me Star Wars A New Hope is my favorite movie of any movie, nothing could possibly come close.  Empire may be a better movie, but the memories and the initial amazement that flood my mind every time I see A New Hope is never going away.

on flip side I was in a theater watching aliens when my aunt died, I had just talk to her on the phone, said I'll call you when I get back...and that movie I just can't watch anymore, too many bad memories.... So for me how and when you saw a movie plays a HUGE part in what you like, so it's highly individual.

Why are people so dense about this?  Did Titanic or TPM have to deal with Netflix?  Smart Phones? Instant access to pirated copies of the movie? HDTV?

Every era has different advantages and disadvantages.  Everyone is so impressed by Gone With The Wind and the ticket sales, but it has literally nothing else to compete with.  No tv, internet, HD Sports, streaming, travel options, etc...  A few select radio stations and books were the competition, so of course it had massive sales.

The reality is there is no fair way to compare each era, but it is fun either way.

Are these copies you speak of high quality? If so I'm going to need one so I can verify this is true:P

  5. It's possible it enters the top 50 all time domestic after the weekend, that's 10 days!  Oh and that's adjusted for inflation chart. 10 days, top 50 all time.  that may never happen that fast ever again, it's a perfect storm, so fast it boggles the mind.

I'm most impressed with these adjusted records, the none adjusted records will continue to fall with inflation, the adjusted list is much more interesting.

  6. I like most of them but easy to pick top 2 and top favorite of all the movies is Luke Skywalker, so if they screw up his ending, I'm not going to be happy:angry::P

The Phantom Menace: Qui-Gon and Darth Maul, I don't like Maul, just a great villain.

Attack of the Clones: Yoda and Jango Fett

Revenge of the Sith: Yoda and Obi Wan

A New Hope: Han and Obi Wan

Empire Strike Back: Luke and Boba Fett

Return of the Jedi: Luke and Leia...and you know why;)

The Force Awakens: Finn and Luke

    Episode 8 Luke:P

Do you think they will make Finn be Lando's son?

    Luke's son.

or a clone, placed by Luke 20 years ago.

Luke has some master plane that's going to finish this, hence the hidden meaning in his name by the writers maybe? Finn...   Finish, End.

If Luke doesn't have some master plan, if he is just running away for 20 years, I will be disappointed with the writers.:D

  8. This movie is so much like A New Hope, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that it does a similar box office, that would be crazy right?

And actually it could beat it, and I was never in the billion camp, but it's just getting incredible reviews/wom.

I saw it twice and I NEVER went to a movie twice, if someone else asked me if I wanted to go with them to see it again I just might:D

  9. Looking at what A New Hope did when adjusted for inflation, I'm now thinking people that I thought were crazy to say 1 billion might not be so crazy.

It may very well beat titanic's adjusted take.

First time I saw the movie I was disappointed, just saw it again and it was much better the second time around.

I guess Lucasfilms was really a bargain for Disney.

Yup, Disney got a steal at 2 billion, Lucas sold way way too cheap, forgetting merchandise which alone was probably worth 2 billion.

I think Lucas film and all the rights to merchandise was worth double the 2 billion he got.

The next 6 movies will at the minimum gross 9 billion worldwide over the next 6 years, add merchandise, theme park, it's mind boggling.
