53.597 admissions in Argentina, #7 OW. Seems below expectations.

Also a low #8 OW in Mexico, 56,816 admissions and just $150K gross.

That is disappointing, but not surprising after its performance in Europe.  It has been more than a year since the Violetta telenovela ended, plus movies based directly off a TV show can be a tough sell to audiences anyway.

Yeah, it's definitely underperforming. As i pointed out a few posts ago, the Violetta concert movie was doing similar numbers (or even better, in some cases) to this, and that shouldn't be the case at all. I just hope it makes whatever budget it used, that's all i really care about now.

And yeah, this movie should have come out in like, mid-2015 when Violetta was still fresh, but the tour was the priority back then, can't blame them!

Today is the debut for it in Argentina.  It may not be as big as other Disney films released this year, but I still consider it an important weekend for the Argentina box office, since the Violetta telenovela is known internationally.  Based on when the previous charts were posted here, I guess full results can be expected on Tuesday for Tini's movie.

I don't know anymore to be honest. It seems like Tini really did become a star of her own, her album is doing well and all, but the movie is most definitely not performing up to the expectations i had for it (at least in Europe). I'm afraid the same could happen here in Latin America!

Are there any additional updates for this movie?  Box Office Mojo says the movie opened in France, Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain last week.  The release in Italy was this weekend.  How is this movie doing versus the competition in Europe?

Portugal: $29,883 dollars opening weekend, opened at #8

TOTAL gross as of the latest update: $1,270,984 dollars in 4 countries.

Not doing any wonders, but i guess it'll do fine. Either way i'm not gonna lie, i was expecting it to do better!

EDIT: To make a comparison, the Violetta concert movie in 2014 did:

Disney crossed $1B in overseas gross this weekend. For the past three years, Disney has been the second-biggest studio of the year. This time, it will again have to fight an uphill battle with Fox, but I think it's got a lot of chances to finally finish in first. Last time it achieved this was in 2003, thanks mainly to the one-two punch of Finding Nemo and Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.

Is there a place to look what the highest grossing studios of the year are (worldwide)? I know i can look in Box Office Mojo for the domestic highest grossing studios, but i tried looking for the highest grossing studios worldwide and didn't find anything anywhere!

  5. "Tini: El Gran Cambio de Violetta" is a Disney movie meant as a closure to Disney Channel's hit series "Violetta". The rollout of this movie will start in May in Europe.
