So looks as if DC will make a good profit off of Shazam. though not on an Aquaman level.

DC was smart to keep the budget down on this one, if they had spent what is usually spent on CBMs they would be looking on making a minor profit at best.

If they spend a bigger budget they won't put it at this time of the year, between two Marvel movies. And they'd spend more on the marketing department. But I do agree they are smart to keep the budget down,

  2. The way I see it, before Billy gets the power, he is forced into a family he doesn't want, and just give up about the whole find his mother thing. So he acts kind depressing but that's not his true nature.

After he gets the power, he suddenly has everything, he has superpowers and he "can take care of himself", which is a thing he wants very badly. He even has a friend, which he never have one before. So his inner child which was buried before was unleashed.  The important thing is, after he gets his power, the way he act when he was Shazam was actually pretty much the same comparing to him being Billy, so imo there isn't really much problem here.

I expect CM 3rd weekend will be lower than WW's 3rd.

It's almost certain at this point. WW's 3rd week drop is 29.5%, which is ridiculous. CM needs to have a less than 40% drop to be around the same number to WW.

Now that we know CM's superpower came solely from Tesseract (Space Stone), there are now two SH, both happen to be women, that have tremendous powers originated from Infinity Stones, the other being Wanda who got her superpower from Mind Stone.

I wonder in Endgame anyone is going to acquire superpower from Infinity Stones?

Since CM got her power from Space Stone, Thanos with Infinity Stones can easily defeat CM. Thanos without the Stones vs CM is more debatable. But seeing that Wanda had difficulties fighting Black Order, and how strong and endurable Thanos is (being an Eternal and in comics he could defeat Silver Surfer etc. without the Stones), the comments that CM will kickass Thanos are rather naive.

With the stone, none of the avengers can take Thanos down, not even as a team. Without the stone though, Thor with his axe would kick his ass easily.

That's why I think people are putting too much thoughts on who will defeat Thanos. The major part of Endgame will be them trying to take the stones away from Thanos. CM, or any other heroes for that matter, won't be the key to "defeat" Thanos, they will only be the key to keep him away from the stones.

I know where Fury got the name from. I’m just trying to understand what the post is saying.

Carol’s call sign was “Avenger”. I think Fury was calling his proposal the “Protector Initiative”. He looked at an old photo of Carol next to her jet and decided to change it.

It's just unecessary and pretty much pointless. The way they handled it feels kind forced, they could leave it out and it won't make any difference, and put it in there will piss some people off. That's why I think it's bizzare. By marvel I mean Marvel studios aka the ones who make the film.

Both, Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, were announced on October 2014.

    But,

In May 2013, the The Hollywood Reporter reported that Marvel Studios has a script for a Ms. Marvel feature.

In August 2014, Kevin Feige revealed that Captain Marvel is a character the film studio would like to explore.

In October 2014, the movie was announced as part of their upcoming slate of films.

    Also,

[Only] In July 2012 [so, after the first Avengers], Carol Danvers, the longtime super-heroine known as Ms. Marvel, assumed the mantle of Captain Marvel in an ongoing series written by Kelly Sue DeConnick with art by Dexter Soy.

"They get zero praise from me."

    Oh, too bad.

Next year we have 'Black Panther', with many great black women, scientist, warriors, queen, of all ages.

'Infinity War', with many great female characters.

And 'Ant-Man and The Wasp',  the first female Marvel superhero to have equal billing with her male counterpart in an MCU film.

And, after those, 'Captain Marvel', "the most powerful MCU character", just 7 years after starting to become an iconic female character in the comic books.

Marvel has a script for Ms. Marvel in 2013 and announced her movie in 2014, the same year WW was announced. Yet her movie will come out in 2019, the same year as WW 2.

They are making a Antman and Wasp, after they made the first Ant man movie with 10 seconds of Wasp (before she was killing off) in it.

Also Carol has been a important character when she was Ms. Marvel. It's not like she only become relevant after she take the name "Captain Marvel". They could just make a movie named Ms. Marvel, there won't be any difference, as a matter of fact, it might be less confusing for the general audiences because they won't mistake her with Shazam.

Praise Marvel for making Black Panther, they deserve that. But stop pretending Marvel has treat their female characters with so much respect.

That is what the legal anylsts have been saying about this deal from day one. It's being carefully written to avoid anti trust problems.

You have to prove probable restraint of trade to have a chance with an anti trust suit, and the would be  hard to prove if it just the studios and a couple of the cable channels changing hands.

If Disney can "carefully written to avoid anti trust problems" and buy Fox, then the legal department should change something right now.

  8. The Thanos CGI is fine, I just don't like the character design. They should keep his helmet on, like in Avengers or GotG. A bold head doesn't look good on him.

Also I can't open any comic book related threads in most of Chinese forums without seeing some MCU fans bashing WW(and other DC films but I can get over with that) being a awful and boring film and the only reason it succeed is Gal is hot.

I don't go out to say MCU fans are the worst because some dicks from that fandom is salty 7/24. So let's accept the fact that all fandoms have horrible person in it, and don't judge the whole fandom for some people's behaviour. That's the racist and sexist's thinking mode, be better than that.

Marvel is likely to move on She-Hulk, Spider-woman, maybe even Black Widow finally and let's not rule out Jane Foster Thor. Hell if Lang dies there could just be a Wasp solo film.

That's not gonna happen. 17 movies in and they have 0 female lead superhero movie, MCU's female characters has less screen time in phase 2 and phase 3, they force romance on them with barely any build up and not necessary at all. Generally speaking, MCU treat their female characters like shit.

I don't see why they will suddenly go 180 on themselves.

DC is not much better in this aspect yet, not until they make another female lead movie, since WW is a must for a DC shared universe. But at least Harley is the co-lead of SS, and that's more than any MCU female character has ever have in a movie already.

The fact that Joss Whedon and David Ayer are still attached their Batgirl & Gotham City Sirens is baffling to me especially after all the good press they got (and later fu*ked up) by getting a female to direct a female property.

SS made tons of money, and that's why David Ayer is still making GCS.

Whedon on the ohter hand, might be considered the one that "made JL watchable"(which is complete bullshit). However both of them could be kicked out anytime(especially Whedon), the huge studios normally take longer time to react.

‘Suicide Squad’ Is A Fantastic Movie, According To Early Reviews

"There was a time above... a time before. There were perfect things... diamond absolutes. But things fall, things on Earth. And what falls... is fallen. In the dream, they took me to the light. A beautiful lie."

I saw a first screening of #SuicideSquad last night and it was SO AMAZING! It comes out in August, I definitely #recommend seeing it!

If you remembers these, then you must also remember that SS never has a social media reaction embargo, the critics didn't post their reaction on the twitter before they publish their review. The only previous DCEU move that has a social media embargo is WW, and the reactions from critics are in line with their final review.

But hey, it's all about "JL is in trouble and it sucks", right.

Which is why I will take the Social Media Reaction to JL with a ton of salt. It is going to be heavily tilted toward bloggers who are probably going to like just about any Comic Book Based Movies.

You know, you can tell who they are by looking at  their twitter profile, it's not like they will post their reaction anonymously. So find those critics you trust and see their reaction.

Thank you for the perfect demonstration of what I was talking about.

Somehow it's a huge problem that the Mandarian and Sif are wasted.....  (cue the crowd...."Who??")

....But Fox wasting Dr forking Doom, Silver freaking Surfer, Apocalypse, Galactus, Cyclops, Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Phoenix, Colossus, Deadpool....

That's not a problem.   Somehow "Fox can do these characters better than Marvel".   What....the f**k??

It's the oddest most blind fanboy position I've ever seen.   Fox has literally wasted some of the most epic and famous comic book characters in history.    But by all means let's fret about Mandarian and Sif.   :winomg:

So Fox wasted Deadpool? 10 years ago you mean? Crowd don't know shit about Silver Surfer,Kitty Pryde as well.

Let me clear it again, Fox didn't do all X-men characters justice, and MCU didn't do all of their character justice as well, I don't see how giving X-men back to Disney will improve any of that, especially consider half of the X-men characters are female. When it comes to female characters, MCU is the worst among the comic franchises.

Mandarian and Sif is just two examples, if you think they are all the characters MCU has wasted, then you are in a blind fanboy situtaion, not me.

That's the same "lot of people" who were saying that long before Logan and Deadpool existed so that's not the reason.

Fox does have a small fan base who apparently don't mind that Fox screws up most of the time and has a history of epic failing with legendary characters.   If Marvel utterly wasted characters like Dr Doom, Apocalypse, Silver Surfer, Phoenix, Galactus, Rogue, Storm, etc those same "lot of people" would be pointing and laughing at the ineptitude.    You certainly wouldn't hear odd claims like "Marvel handles those characters best".

MCU wasted a ton  of characters as well, people even praise them for wasting these characters, you know, like Mandarin. I've seen so many people claim that it was a clever twist and the real Mandarin is still out there because of that short in the dvd.

People praise Valkyrie in Thor 3, and somehow no one mentions how they treats Sif in the past two movies and then simply pretend this character never exist in Thor 3. Basically every female character other than Black Widow is wasted, they barely have any screen time, has no story arc and no personality at all. And even Black Widow is not treated that well.

MCU has a problem of dealing with Villains too, so there is zero promise that they can do Dr Doom or Galactus justice.
