All Eyez on Me is a tough one. It feels like another Notorious than another Straight Outta Compton IMO.

I'm curious as to the reviews for Rough Night. The premise could potentially rub a lot of people the wrong way, but maybe they're saving the funniest bits for the movie. I'm hopeful that this is another Bad Moms, which had awful previews but the movie ended up being quite funny (and also the last comedy that actually found an audience, which says a lot about the state of the genre given that it came out almost a year ago).

Notorious is a good comparison for All Eyez which did 20m on 1600 theaters in January

Rough Night had a funny script, and the test screenings have gone well, so i would expect decent reviews (at least substantially better than Baywatch + Snatched, and around Bad Moms 58 on RT)

It Comes At Night is why many people have no problem pirating movies. Saw it in a small theater that was extremely well behaved and could not tell you the amount of "what the fuck was that?" and "that was fucking horrible." when the credits rolled. So many people sat in their seats with this perplexed look in their faces. They couldn't believe it was over or that they spent $14 on it.

I was really enjoying it up until the ending too and I like art house type horror films. Unlike Personal Shopper I wasn't smiling when this ended like Huh! I was grimacing with Huh?! That was it?!

So according to you people pirate movies because they don't like them :kitschjob:

I think Cars 3 settles for a $50M opening. I'm more interested in how Rough Night fares: the market is starving for a comedy and marketing has been plentiful, but I wonder if the premise is a tad too "mean-spirited" to take it to large numbers.

Rough Night will do fine (reviews will surely be better than Snatched + Baywatch) but could have been a bigger breakout had it been WB or Universal been the distributor

It's being advertised more of a "girls night out" type film (which should still benefit from a hungry marketplace and female demographic) when it should be more of an event comedy

Budget is only 20m, so it should be fine regardless
