I mean 7 million is less than the previews should have been realistically.

Snyder is better than all mentioned.
I actually agree with you here. I think Man of Steel is one of the greatest superhero films ever made. But hey thats just me.

Passengers is such a frustrating movie. It's a lot better than some of the critics gave it credit for, but even aside from my problems with the ending...the energy of the first two acts felt like they were only scraping the surface of what they COULD have achieved.
Brilliant score and performance from Lawrence, though.
I'm so with you on this. I watched it twice within 2 days because it drew me in with its premise. But the last act could not compare to the first. I still thinks its a great movie though and pratt and lawrence have such good presence on screen.

off the top of my head pirates of the caribbean 2, transformers 2, captain america 2, thor 2, lord of the rings 2, hunger games 2, twilight 2, national treasure 2, ice age 2, austin powers 2, the matrix 2 aaaaaaaaand the squeakquel didn't.
Lol the squeakquel. Some of those already had subtitles in the first films- i guess i meant movies that went from one title to a sequel with subtitle. Transformers does fit that bill like you said.

Am I crazy ir do sequels with subtitles always seem to do less money?
-
I saw today the runtime for Dunkirk will be 1 hour 47 minutes. Thats seems pretty short especially for Nolan. But it got me thinking that the runtime will help it make more money just from a standpoint of it getting more showtimes in a day. It also makes you wonder if the studio pressured for a shorter cut.

I would caution
It seemed at First Pirates 5 was crashing but it seems it will do 750 million WW now.
So imo, I would say chill, if it does below 700 million WW then its a disaster.
What would be break even for TF5? 650?

no it's from some parody "if michael bay made the dark knight" script that went viral 9 years ago. that line's always stuck in my head too.
Sadly if you told me it was real I would believe it lol.

July will be interesting.
Will there be any break outs?
Which of the big three (Spidey, Apes, Nolan) will disappoint?
They can't all be smash hits.
And then the wild cards: Valerian, Atomic Blonde, and Emoji.
My gut says apes disapoints while dunkirk will be suprising given its "wow" factor at the big screen.
I think valerian crashes hard and atomic does so-so business if it gets a fairly positive review aggregate. I have no pulse on emoji tho that could go any which way but loose.

I saw the same trailer for this movie in the previews of every film of 2017 I saw.
Including Free Fire LOL.
They crammed it here in the US, we just don't care.
Yeah I guess my interest was so low I might have actively avoided any mention.

Eh, idk. I saw the movie all over the place for the last month or so, I just think the US audiences weren't interested in seeing another Transformers movie.
It probably doesnt help that i dont gave cable either.

I just feel like the poor quality of the sequels was bound to catch up to the grosses at some point. Looks like the time has come.
Whats incredible to me is how much that quality declined, especially with the 3rd one. I saw the first one 3 times in theaters and still think its a great popcorn flick but the sequels, ughhhh.

I think it actually didnt have enough advertising. Good or bad they should have been cramming it down the throats because they knew they were gonna be crucified by critics. Im a little shocked the true wed was 10 million because i thought WORST case scenario it came in around the first movies take. Boy was my pea brain wrong.
-
There's no way they will have the guts to put the orgy on the big screen right? If I'm remembering correctly in the original movie they mentioned but didn't show.

Marvel Studios won't produce R-rated movie. I mean R-rated Venom/Carnage movie with Tom Hardy in the lead role sounds amazing. Yeah, Sony and Rothman can frick everything up, but if they somehow manage to produce a good movie, it would be far better than another PG-13 MCU movie that feels excatly the same like all other MCU movies. There's no need in MCU connections for this kind of movie.
I feel like they have gotten close with daredevil and luke cage. Especially luke cage.
