Big disagree. The OW for GotG 2 adjusts past BP2 and MCU has gotten way more frontloaded since then. Zero reason this shouldn’t have pushed 200 on OW given a “healthy” MCU. The fact that we might get like half that OW just speaks volumes to how unhealthy of a stage the franchise is in now.

GOTG 2 does not adjusts to BP2. GOTG 3 will be lucky to hit 120 now, not good.

TGM will be at $522m or so after Sunday.  It will be at $540m going into next weekend.  I would guess it is at least $570m by the end of 4th of July and about $580 going into Thor weekend.

Should pass $600m by July 10th or so.

I am pretty confident it has a really good shot at $700m+.  It will absolutely be on screen and putting up solid numbers going into mid-September.

Top gun two is not making any where near 700m. Thor 4 is coming out and will cut off it legs.

  3. It's funny to see the trolling in here. They want MCU to fail so bad, because they are not doing what they want or how they want it. Yet the MCU just keeps winning. Some would make up anything even if it makes no sense. This is how a conversation gos with trolls when you give them facts they don't like.

First "MCU is done after Endgame." Huge hits on Disney+."MCU was Lucky super hero fatigue is coming." NWH hits big but only because MCU helped Sony, Look at Mobius. Disney will make big profit of NWH they own 25% of the boxoffice.  "Only NWH can do big openings." MOM hits 190million." MOM will have bad legs." Still will make a lot of profit for Disney." I don't care i hate Disney and the MCU."  Okay.....

Trolls leave out the context for BVS vs MOM.  BVS was 50million more to make. BVS had A listers Batman, Superman and wonder woman yet underperformed, still it made profit. MOM has c listers Doctor strange and Wanda and will make more than THE Batman and BVS how is that not a win, trying to hard to spin it.  Only a troll would say a 190m opening is not amazing. If it drops hard it's still going to make more than The Batman and BVS.

  4. NWH was ok. It had a lot of plot holes. It only did really well because old villains, old spidermen and because no huge film came out to hurt it's legs.  MOM its not a NWH level but it's not a true solo film either.  MOM had short cameos, if MOM had many more big cameos it would do NWH numbers because NWH is not a true solo Spiderman film. it's a big team up film. The only true solo MCU film that did 200m opening weekend was Black Panther.

190M to 200m with ok legs to bad legs for MOM would still give it around 400m. That's ok, look at Cap 3 numbers. It's not a true solo film and it made 1.1 billion and had ok legs

Yes, but if the movie starts filming in January and ends up with that July 2021 release date, I would think they'd want to acknowledge the movie now, as it may very well be out by the time the next expo is set. I'm sure we'll know more in the coming months but that they completely ignored it at this D23 points to some uncertainty to me.

You're over thinking this with no facts to back that up.  2020 still is a bit far off. They could acknowledge the full cast by next week for all we know. Yes them not showing anything at D23 is weird but that does not mean that the film is being pushed back. Even if they're delays. The delay will only be about a month or two meaning the film will still come out in late 2021 early 2022 .

I'm sorry, did I say Harry was the end all be all?? Did I say Marshall didn't have enough time to cast?? Point is, if the movie were set to film in January 2020, why did they completely ignore it at D23? That was the perfect time opportunity to make an official announcement about the film, its production and release date. At the very least, no announcement suggests that the movie is not getting a 2021 release or that they are still unsure about that or other aspects of the movie.

No, I don't think they will recast, or cancel the movie. Stop projecting. I'm simply saying there may be some issues that are causing a delay.

Their no issues or delays.  Disney not casting as fast as you want and not making an announcement at D23 does not mean anything. Shooting does not start until next year.

Word is that Marshall and the producers loved Harry but I find it difficult to believe they put all their eggs in one basket. They've been casting this movie for months and I doubt they've been sitting on their hands waiting for Harry to sign up until a few weeks ago. Marshall is too experienced not to have been looking at other options. I mean, we know there were auditions based on Asher Angel saying he auditioned for the role. To me, the most logical explanation is that this movie has been pushed backed for some other reason. I'd love to know why.

Harry styles is not the end all be all. Films not pushed back. The film was always set to start production January next year. That's four months, way more time than Marshall would need to cast everyone and get everything else ready to start the production.

There was apparently a suprise guest, the actress who is playing Ariel in the tv event. But no Halle (even though she was at D23) and no mention of the movie, apparently. I will try not to read too much into it but that is really weird, indeed.

Nothing much to read into really.  One Disney will not recast because that would be clearly racist. Two all the Disney renaissance films made over 1 billon at the box-office so it's going to happen to matter what. Disney loves money. They just didn't want to say anything but yes it's weird.

LOL denial over Harry Styles turning down this fluff. He doesn't need it. he worked with Nolan. Zendaya doesn't need it. She works with Villeneuve. I respect artistic integrity.

Also, for everyone who says Styles can't act or sing, Mouse obviously thought he could for they offered him the role. He turned it down. It isn't like he was never offered the role.

Disney don't care if he can't act. Disney just think he has a fan base that will go see the film because of him. That's the only reason they wanted him. Hopefully not that he blessed us. Disney can cast a fresh face that can actually act and sing.

I'm aware of what was reported. Harry was good in Dunkirk but lets be real, this role doesn't call for a great actor. Given that he actually is a very good singer with tons of charisma, I'm more likely to agree with those who think he is too good for this role than believing he isn't good enough.

The role calls for good acting and he's not good. As for singing he's not bad but he's not great either. The point is Hollywood report  and Variety don't report something if it's not true. this is not rumor like the other sites. They are major trades, they don't mislead just so Disney can hide the casting. They have a rep on the line. He's not Eric and that's better for the film. We will look back and say thank god he passed on the role

Until we actually hear that someone else has been cast, I won't be completely convinced that Harry isn't the guy. There was talk yesterday of his manager following then unfollowing Disney Studios on Instagram and it's just odd to me that he has been the only name attached to the role, especially since it's clear that Disney wanted a big name.

As for Marshall, he may not be some visionary director, but calling the man a hack is silly. He's good enough.

No, both Hollywood reporter vs variety said he turned it down. Great news because he's not a great actor and he's just an ok singer.

It is. I look forward to seeing what Menken and LMM can come up with for TLM. Given the talent involved, I'd hope they can at least match Speechless, if not produce something even better.

Speechless was ok. How far I'll go is way better then Speechless so the TLM new songs should be much better then speechless.
