The problem is Focus. I've said this months ago. This needed A24. They have a loyal brand for genre films (look at Green Knight, Everything Everywhere, Midsommar, etc). And Focus failed by not giving it a festival premiere. Maybe they were afraid of reviews at time after test screenings, but this needed months of buzz and hyped reviews.
I think Focus got scared what happened to The Last Duel. It went to Venice and then the bad reactions came but later it became a well reviewed film. Basically the hype went down and the bo could not recover.

I wonder how the film is doing in the UK Box Office. I read some posts from Twitter that their cinemas were packed. Like this one.

Bad timing too. Feels like Everything Everywhere and The Northman have taken away all the attention from the Internet-friendly crowd that might've been all over it otherwise.
Isn't Box Office pro still predicting it over The Northman with 8-13m over 5-10m?

I've actually seen a ton of ads for The Northman over the past few days. Enough to save it from being a write-off? Probably not, but this might be one of those times where any not-completely-miserable number will elevate its run to "I'll take it" status.
And the reviews are strong as well. So far Eggers going 3/3. Hopefully it will help.

A bit late but I'm so glad that it worked today.
Father Stu had today at 10am EST 97 sold tickets for today in 6 theaters.
Comps: Overcomer (8.1M OW) had on Thursday for Thursday 91 sold tickets.
And American Underdog had on Saturday for Saturday 241 sold tickets (4.2M OD but that was directly on Christmas).
I also think that the R-Rating is hurting but the number isn't that bad and I guess the WOM will decide.
The Northman had today 150 sold tickets for Friday, April 22.
Comps: The Green Knight had 159 sold tickets on Monday of its release week (= 6 days later)
and The Last Duel had also on Monday of its release week 46 sold tickets.
Not bad so far and I'm curious how it will perform next week.
Regarding the numbers for The Northman. Is this good or bad?

Any update for The Northman?

The Last Duel was marketed as a historical drama that was supposed to contend in the award season. The Northman seems to market like The Green Knight but more action packed/commercial.

We will see reviews from critics on April 11(lift the embargo). I just hope the movie will survive at the box office. I need to see more of Eggers.

Any update for The Northman? A 90m budget is scary. I hope it doesn't bomb like The Last Duel (really a great film, too bad really).

According to Variety, The Northman” is projected to earn $10 million to $15 million in its first three days of release.
Not bad for a film that is R-rated with 3,000 theatres.
