90% chance domestically, 70% chance worldwide. Currently thinking....

    Multiverse of Madness = $435M DOM -- $600M OS

    Love & Thunder = $475M DOM -- $700M OS

    Wakanda Forever = $575M DOM -- $650M OS

love and thunder aint making that much OS. ragnarok made around 530m Os including china. And well china aint arount this time. Domestically it will be big but OS Thinking 550-600m OS-china. china would have pushed it to the 700m mark.

    So a -34% Saturday drop.

Then it needs a -16% Sunday hold to make it to $200m. I can’t see that happening now. 5.4x previews. Black Widow did 6.1x.

Still a great opening, but I did expect $200m.

tht  sun hold would get it to 198m

poeple are overrecting here in terms of legs

    thinking 2.2-2.4x legs .

I think Marvel Studios had to be extremely careful for phase one.

If you recall they had a deal where if they had too many flops they would lose the movie rights to the entire MCU.

It was one of the biggest Hollywood gambles of all time.

For phase 4 they can rest on their laurels a bit. They know Black Widow is a one shot and Eternals was an experiment but they have the sluggers like Spider-man,  Dr Strange, Thor, and Black Panther in the dug out.

I can't express how bad Marvel needed Iron Man to be a homerun in phase 1. But for phase 4, Feige knew the next the four movies after Eternals would make at least 3.5 billion total.

like i said in my OP MCU will be fine in terms of money. iam talking about quality of the product in relations of phase 1 vs phase 4.

just because they are flop proof for the most part doesnt mean giving us rushed and mediocre content in phase 4. This is the mentality in studios that has ruined franchises and sequels

pliz read through my prevoius comment it has nothing to with box office.

Or, it tells us that it leans heavily into a genre that always scores lower.  Horror and gore don't get A and A+ ratings.

Either way, you're completely wrong and insane.  Show me one single data point that says the majority of the people that have seen this movie aren't enjoying it or positive about it.

Spoiler alert: you won't be able to, it's just something you have made up in your mind to support your unfounded personal opinion.

yeah sure OP Has been trolling . but cmon mcu movies fall in the A range .  those in the A- and below  are considered low tier in terms of audience reception for the franchise.  B plus  Cs is fine but lets not pretend its good either

It took the Infinity War Saga a while to hit it's stride.

When The Avengers came out the MCU became popular. But Phase 3 is when things went into high gear.

So again, I'm not worried. A slow start is normal for an MCU Saga.

finished my rewatch of the infinity saga recently. phase 1 is a bit rough on the ages but it was slow and there was a clear vision of what they are building towards . phase 4 is building towards something but its the oposite and just feels so rushed . personally its only yelena and kate bishop who have stood out as new characters . chavez was simply a walking a macguffin ,shangchi was fine, the rest well...  .

phase 1 had more time and thought put into it . phase 4 carries the baggage of the shows and movies and will try to cram atleast 3-4 of each into a year. there will be good movies for sure but will  get alot more messy ones too.

    I wouldn't take 2021 too seriously as a representation of MCU's decline.

Those were Marvel Studios C/D tier during covid restrictions.

They still have Spider-man, Dr Strange, Thor, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ant-Man (and eventually Deadpool, X-men and Fantastic Four).

How many successful film series do other franchises have?

sure eternals and BW Didnt do great financially due to their circumstances and time of release but mcu is still bringing in money. the major complaints on phase 4 has been the decline in the quality of the content.

  7. Now regarding the shows and the movies , they is definetely a colleration . Think feige and team are starting to get spread thin . feige had originally promised the shows wouldnt be required viewing for the movies and later walked that back and mom clearly needed one to view WV to fully understand it just seems like a bad road to go down and will muddle continuity going forward.

streaming is a  very demmanding endeavor. Disney is not like netflix which can churn out massive content weekly.  animation, mcu and starwars are its major popular content and they are now jumping to 4 mcu shows a year to fill a scedule and keep people subscribed and this is why the shows are rushed , medoicre and of low count.

the burden of producing multiple shows some of which will connect to the movies will lead to more over saturation and fracturing of a portion of the audience and affect output quality

i know im kind of pessimistic but just looking at phase 4 as an example with possibly more production and releases coming in upcoming phases dont think we are ever getting anything close to the quality and consistecy of the infinity saga again . will there be Good movies ? yes but we are probably get abit more duds.

As for making money, yeah mcu will continue the streak  for now

So a bit below the true Friday of Age of Ultrons. If it gets similar changes to it or NWH it would get Saturday (~56m) and Sunday (~49.5m) it would end up with an OWend of 195-198m.

Or with AEG %changes to Sat and Sun: 61.5m Sat and 51m Sun for a 203.5M Wend.

HP7-2 would only get it to 49.5m Sat and 41.7m Sun for a Wend of 182m.

AOU SAT stayed flat from true friday due to the manny/mayweather fight and then rebounded by dropping 11% on sun.

think it will play closer to civil war which jumped 22% from true friday and dropped 30.7% on sunday. And suprisingly it also released on the same date in 2016. which gets it to around 204m but 67m sat seems way too big So will go with lower sat but better sun drop

AOU,CW,EG all dropped roughly 59% drop second weekend .

    IW 55%

  9. Anyone else  think the mcu shows  are going to affect it in the long run. liked the film but i have to say was suprised fiege didnt do much to bridge the gap btn  wandavision and this esp to those unfamiliar with the show. i know you dont have recap everything for them but major character defining moments happen and it lives a portion of the audience confused.  MCU  has made a name for itself by creating a mostly coherent interconnected universe and this movie starts to undermine that .

    Good numbers for the weekend

    thinking 196 to 202m 0w

  10. Though i can see how wanda character change will confuse some , i liked that they commited to making her full evil and didnt chicken out like in the wandavision finale with that terrible piece of dialog from rambeau.  she was ruthless in this though i wish it could have been written better bse GA May find her turn quite jarring.

they let sam raimi have fun with with this.  brutality level in here was suprising . black bolt head caving gave me quite a gasp. wanda chasing  them blood soaked with rage in her eyes ,zombie strange rising and taking control of the souls was all so fantastic and well shot.

in terms of visuals it was good. scott derickson succeded and was much better in this department. spell casting here was sort of underwhelming for me. even the russos and watts did a better job in  action sequences using magic

mc adams was utilised alot better in this movie which i liked

The whole illuminerdi arc should have been given a little more time. Wanda takes them out way too easy. they got to be one of the dumbest assemble. man just introducing such intersting characters who are willing to kill one of their own if it means saving the world and then just disposing them off as nothing just felt so anti climatic. I Know wanda is powerful but damn thats just too much.

Atleast it should have been  a formidabble battle.

chavez was fine enough in the role but she was majorly the macguffin of the plot

loved Dr strange s  arc in this too.

final battle was also rushed hated how wanda was killed of. Hate death scenes were they just cut off and an amount of time passes

overall was fast paced and moved along swiftly  ,was never bored . it could have done with an additional 20 mins because it was really rushed at points. it was fun but i was fully invested in everything going on.

8/10.  Best of phase 4 for me.  direction was good, script was meh

This movie felt like a joke for 90% of its run-time, but not really in a memorable way. Like it was going for the same vibe as Venom 2 but Venom 2 succeeded. And this movie just looks so much cheaper than the first Doctor Strange (there's a wide-shot on a rooftop that looks like something out of the room). Going to now watch A Simple Plan now.

yeah derrickson was really miissed here. Action sequence at karmataj was really underwhelming for me

  12. Just finished. Really liked this. its restrained at parts due to its rating but they werent kidding when they said this mcu first swing at horror. some scenes in here were quite suprising and unexpected ,this is a raimi movie for the most part and im suprised how much they let him do. cumberbatch was good as always and there were some neat visuals.

on the negative side ,its feels rushed and plotlines are not fleshed out properly , wanda s character change is kind of jarring even as one who watched wandavision and those who didnt watch the show will be very confused and its going to divide the GA.

Cameos were sort of underwhelming and a certain action sequence which is well shot and great but is too short and your like  thats it!!!!

scot derrickson shot action and visuals better and it was lacking at points in the movie

overall the movie was fast paced and was never bored ,horror elements were better than i expected and loved strange s  arc but its messy at points and will be too dark for some and wanda s potrayal will polarize some

    8/10

    CW/AOU Legs incoming
