So what do you think? Will Deadpool & Wolverine be THE R-rated film to top The Passion of the Christ’s $370M DOM-record or will that film still keep it’s record for longer?
It will. I don’t see how it could miss it unless the legs are shit. I would be surprised if it makes less than the first Deadpool honestly
-
I’m still going with more than a 140 million opening weekend for this. This has a very good chance to pass the domestic run of passion of the Christ to be the highest grossing R rated film in America.

I'm hoping this breaks the OW record for Warner Bros.
I would love for that to happen. Rn the record is to beat deathly hallows part 2’s 169 million. Over or/under?

It sucks that GxK isn't going to finish above Godzilla 2014. After all the hoopla from it's opening weekend. I wanted another movie above 200M DOM, boo!
Woah a bit too early to predict that. It still has a chance since this month is so empty for new releases. But yeah it sucks though if that mediocre af film is still the highest grossing DOM.

Disney did irreparable damage to moviegoers' viewing habits. The general audience has lost its connection to good movies. For 16 years they were forced-fed Marvel (there is not one rewatchable movie out of all of them), garbage new Star Wars (none of them rewatchable either), and subpar animated films (even Pixar is trash now). Other studios tried to remake themselves in Disney's image. Meanwhile, Netflix serves unwatchable garbage that get clicks because they pay bad actors like Ryan Reynolds or JLo $20-30M and you don't mind that the movies are bad cuz you're watching from home.
So there is now a ceiling on how much a good movie will gross because only a very small % of the population hasn't been tainted by the last 16 years.
Now that Marvel is thankfully over and Disney can't seem to sell water in the desert, maybe audiences will be retrained to not only recognize but want good movies en masse, but it will take time to undo the last decade and a half.
Ryan Reynolds…bad actor??

Dakota Johnson seems to do better in indie films. She should stick to that instead of doing shit like this or 50 shades of grey

First prediction: 150M OW
If it manages to pull that off, then it’s gonna outcross every DC film from last year just on its opening weekend alone 😱

I'm convinced Inside Out 2 is blowing up, the same guy who predicted Mario and Barbie to blow up pre-tracking is also predicting Inside Out to explode
Is inside out 2 the only film his prediction to explode this year so far?

Ghostbusters 2 is awful. Unlikeable characters, basically no laughs and and an over reliance on special effects. To me it's just as bad as Ghostbusters 2016. I truely can't see how someone can say 2 is solid while 2016 is awful, that's gotta be nostalgia talking.
Trust me, there are a lot of people that I know who hate the 2016 Ghostbusters but loves the second film from 1989. Hell some of these people even like the second film more than the original one.

It doesn't look any good to me, feel like it's destined for bad reviews and not great wom BUT it does have a crazy good opening weekend. Feel like this could make over $100M domestic and maybe even get to $300M worlwide. It's defo gonna be the bigget non-Venom grosser for this universe.
Yeah no, I don’t see this thing making over $100M domestically. It’s biggest goal rn is Morbius $73M, which I’m expecting under.

Unrelated to Dune, but now that I'm working now and no longer in school, I have more time on my hands in my non-work hours, and have been trying to catch up on (good) movies from the 80s-90s-00s that I've never seen (so if any of you have recommendations, send them my way!)
Watched Apollo 13 last week. Pretty good movie, well-directed and well-acted, even if I didn't connect with it on an emotional level. 4 stars.
Watched Edward Scissorhands last night. UM... WHY HAS NO ONE FORCED ME TO WATCH THIS MOVIE BEFORE NOW??? Big Fish is my favourite movie of all time, so I'm all for sentimental Burton. It's still my #2 Burton (nothing will ever top Ewan McGregor in a field of daffodils) but it's really strong, and the last 30 minutes really, really works. Also, Danny Elfman....?!?!?!?! Ice Dance has got to be one of my favourite pieces of music ever written for a film.
I want this Burton back. Hopefully Beetlejuice 2 is good and has some of his flair from his earlier works. But I really hope he makes something original next. A high-concept fantasy/fairy-tale.
Edward Scissorhands is a classic. My favorite Tim Burton film, still his best work (tbf I haven’t seen Big Fish yet).

From the director of Snow White & the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell '17. Keep your expectations low.
Tbf I haven’t seen Snow White and the Hunstman. Ghost in the shell on the other hand, was so fucking boring. It was such a chore to sit through I stopped watching it halfway through.

I don’t get how this guy and Burk Sharpless keep getting work. They wrote so much garbage and yet they still keep getting hired to write films. I already knew Madame web was doomed when the first trailer came out and the fact these guys were the writers.

I think this is a possibility that’s gonna happen. Since I doubt that Bad boys 3 is even gonna come out this June. It’s suppose to come out in 4 months and still no trailer, yeah I can see Kraven getting pushed up.

Someone on Reddit predicted John Wick 4 to outgross AQM 2 domestically back in August 2022
And it’s gonna outgross it worldwide too.

I shouldn’t be surprised since it was already gonna leave the top 10 this weekend. But damn I wasn’t expecting 2,000 theaters to drop it on its third weekend alone. Movie is so front loaded
-
Movie looks so cheap. I guess it will open more than 20 million on its 4 day weekend, don’t be surprised if it opens lower than Blue beetle’s 25 million. Also legs are gonna be really bad for this one.

The Marvels finishing with a lower multi than all time CBM front loaders like Elektra, Jonah Hex, Morbius, BvS, Flash, and Shazam 2 is insane. Are there any others lower than 1.85x?
Well there was the remake of Hellboy from 2019. That one has a multi a bit lower with 1.82x.

When will they release the first trailer? Super Bowl or when Dune 2 comes out?

I think I’m at the point where I’m more excited about Sonic 3 than any CBM this year.
I can understand that to an extent. Despite it being a comic book film, I’m more excited for Joker 2 than for any superhero movie this year (yes that even includes Deadpool 3).

Domestic Box office Predictions for 2024
Deadpool 3 : 400m DOM ( I can potentially see this become the highest grossing R rated film DOM beating Passion of the Christ’s record of 20 years.)
Joker Folie a Deux : 380m DOM ( Ironically enough it’s being released on the exact same date as the original almost 5 years ago. I’m going wild and say that I think this will break the October record. I think this could be the first film to make 100m on its opening weekend on the month of October.)
Inside out 2 : 360m DOM ( I think this will make similar numbers like the original, not sure if I can see a huge increase from the first.)
Madame Web : 50m DOM ( Maybe I’m highballing this one, it could probably do worse)
Dune Part 2 : 175-180 DOM ( Honestly I don’t think it’s gonna be a huge increase from the first, it’ll make money but I just can’t see it increasing a hundred million more although I would like to be proven wrong)
Kraven the hunter : 65m DOM ( similar numbers to Morbius, maybe a bit worse)
Sonic 3 : 205-210m DOM
Kong X Godzilla : 150M DOM
Kung fu panda 4 : 155-160M DOM
The Fall guy : 145M DOM
Beetlejuice 2 : 190-200M DOM

No it won’t. Guardians 3 already did on its opening weekend. Plus those two films came out almost 2 years ago, it’s barely gonna have an effect on Deadpool 3’s performance
