i got Cuaron and McQueen as locks and the rest of the field quite unclear. right now, i'm going with Russell, Howard, and J.C. Chandor.

Blanchett and Bullock are shoo-ins. Dench seems likely. After that, pretty darn unclear. Here's the five I got at the moment

One Direction flick will likely have colossal drop next weekend. Bieber flick dropped 54% but I think this one drops 60%. Maybe more.

talk about wide open! fassbender appears to be in. i'm waiting until buzz for foxcatcher before including ruffalo or tatum or even carell if he's pushed here instead of lead. for now i'm saying fassbender, leto, clooney, hanks, and hill.

60% drop seems likely for Elysium next wknd. B Cinemascore... I think it drops to fifth next weekend after Butler, KA2, WTM, and Planes

i guess I'd go "C" if forced (I gave it 2 1/2 stars in my review). Even less mainstream than Drive (which I loved), with many of the same elements.

some takeaways from the box office results: Mama was marketed very well and its PG-13 rating definitely helped coupled with its female appeal. Broken City's trailers/commercials just made it look like the type of flick you could easily wait for TV and its reviews certainly didn't help. I was shocked at just how low The Last Stand's performance was. I figured it wouldn't do well, but this is just pathetic. I think a legit question at this point is how many of the Arnold movies he's working on may go the straight to DVD route. wow - Ride Along pretty much doubled my prediction! And clearly the J Ryan franchise has pretty much run out of steam.
