  1. for me personally, WW's biggest achievement is that it's the leggiest 100M+ OW / 400M+ total DOM grosser.

only those historical BO monsters can make its North America run look less than amazing.

and yes, very much like with Avatar, some people here like to discredit WW's boxoffice result every chance they get by referring to the "quality" of the film (that it's merely a "bad, average, mediocre funny book movie").

I wish WW would have done more, but how can anyone be disappointed in its performance?

yeah, its cbm dom standing will be sliding sooner (upcoming big screen serials) or later (inflation), but that 3.9+ multi is one for the history book.

409,013,994 is a goal for it to get past Iron Man 3 to #5 all time for comic book films behind the two Avengers & two Dark Knights. :)

... even though that # might only hold up until Justice League ... or for sure until Infinity War next May.

it won't matter though; after passing SM1, WW would be the #1 none-sequel DOM grosser, which imo is not likely to be replaced anytime soon.

if it actually gets over IM3, it'll be the #1 solo movie only behind the two TDKs, an amazing feat.

  4. just brought my nephew to see it today. It got an almost limited release treatment in Taiwan; far fewer screens and showtimes compared to standard wide release features. was hoping to see it in IMAX, but Dunkirk still holds on to it~

anyway, some very fun and interesting moments, but overall...there are more meh stuff in it.

then again, the last Besson film I really really like is  Joan of Arc. Leon remains as my favorite, and would still go back to Subway and Big Blue once in a while.

WONDER WOMAN WITH $0.99M, TOTAL:$392.89M -22% from last week,

both SM1 and THG dipped under 1M at the day 57 (Fri), and WW is keeping the pace and grossed a bit higher by the estimate.

Anyway you slice it, that is an ”Ouch!”-worthy drop for a film (SM:H) that had so much going for it (at least on paper). Whatever the reason, it’s clear that ”OMG, WOM is insane!" claims were premature. Like someone else mentioned, the word-of-mouth monster that some expected/predicted still hasn’t materialized.

I believe the whole package of the monster WOM claim was that after WW overtake GotG2, SMH will overtake WW and claim the crown of summer 2017.

Yup, it did very well. But it was legit terrible.

and I'm in a boxoffice forum, so it doesn't matter if you think it's legit terrible. Fox certainly didn't decide not to make the sequel because of mixed critical reception.

it's quite impressive to me since it may stay as the 2nd highest DOM grosser of Apes franchise after War's run ends.

Or interest. A movie can have a great WOM within its fandom all it wants, people who have no desire to see it, won't see it. Movies with built in fandoms are limited by that fandom.

I wouldn't call this wom; online fan ranking is part of such buzz/hype by fandom. Agree with the interest part since if the buzz actually get of closet fandom, WOM is at work to get the GA interested in seeing the movie in theaters.

I understand high critics score has nothing to do with wom, but high audience score after 10-days of release (once a wider base than just arid fans catch the movie) might indicate something.

I wasn't referring to RT audience score. It certainly reflects how a portion of moviegoers online feel about the film, but not indicating communication flow, that is wom.

If that's a reply to me, I'm going by the good things friends have said who never normally even talk about CBMs. But then, I don't live in the US, so I suppose the OS numbers are reflecting that.

yes, SMH is having better hold in my country as well. WOM seems better than the North America,. too.

    Wonder Woman

    Current Gross: $372, 552, 849

    Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: $385, 954, 831 ($13, 401, 982 remaining)

    Quadruple Century Mark: $400, 000, 000 ($27, 447, 151 remaining)

    4x Multiplier: $413, 005, 884 ($40, 453, 035 remaining)

Red Text indicates that the milestone in question is a stationary target. Blue Text indicates that the milestone in question is a moving target.

if WW gets as much as TSLoP after Day 41, it gets to 400m.

if WW gets as much as TDK after Day 41, it gets 4x multi

    hope for the best scenario...

Not to mention that it also appeals to an older demographic than most SHMs, and even to people who don't normally see CBMs. It's like a 4-quadrant-plus film. I've seen it a lot, and I'm surprised at the number of older couples (dare I say even elderly) that I've seen, and they seem to love it: lots of laughs, etc.  As some reviewers have notably said, WW is very balanced--it's not too dark, not too light, not too much action, and not too wordy.  Every time I see it, it feels shorter than its 2hr21min run time, and that is a rare accomplishment. It's hard to find a place for a bathroom break, for god's sake!

It's going to be referred to as one of the best examples of CMBs, and particularly origin stories, ever put to film.

yeah, people are sharing stories of seeing elderly couples in theaters, and buying senior tickets for their grandparents~

one review I remember pointed out that WW is "too actiony for ladies yet too romantic for guys"...I had my concern early on, but somehow this turned out not to be a disadventage...it's a rare breed of female audience driven action romance~

Come to think of it, all those talks about "relax, it's a spidey movie, there is very little Iron Man in there" isn't really helping the box office. If this was a Spiderman/Ironman team up movie, I think more people will want to see it.

Team up tend to bring more audiences into the theatre and Iron Man(or RDJ) is the most popular character in MCU.

they certainly marketed the team-up thing...
