A small update from The Netherlands: The Lion King dropped a mere 3.3% this week (Thu-Wed): €4.2M from €4.3M last week.
Its total is now €21.7M, which is 3rd all-time behind Bohemian Rhapsody (€21.9M) and Titanic (€23.6M).
Summer vacation in The Netherlands will only gradually end in the next 3 weeks, so it should not have any problem becoming #1 by a significant margin.

Anyone still think this will make 1B DOM?
To reach $1B domestically TFA needs another $456M. The past week (Mon-Sun) it made $296M. Therefore it needs 100 / (1 + 456/296) = 39% or better weekly drops, starting next Monday.
If it holds well this week (say 20% - 30% drops) then by the end of the week the required weekly holds for $1B do not seem completely unrealistic.

It made $38.6M this week, still needs $25.2M for $800M, so even if it drops 60% now it will still reach $800M.

That's a nice drop in the 3rd weekend
Where do you see it will land for total? Can IM3 surpass TA?
Thanks
IM3 is currently €0.4M behind TA after 3 weekends, but IM3's 3rd weekend was higher. If it has a few good weeks it can surpass TA.

I don't think it can beat Avatar. It can increase a bit in the next 2 weeks and it may have great holds early next year, but that still would not bring it close enough to Avatar to have a real chance. I'd love to be wrong though, and Skyfall has already surprised here beyond imagination.CR did not have anything like The Hobbit to contend with, so it's difficult to compare them.

To make $1B as the 24th movie in a franchise, when previous movies never made more than $600M (unadjusted) would indeed be amazing. If this movie hits 1bil, to me it will be the success story of the year, not Avengers.

Indeed. It will need to be 10 x as successful as Taken 1 to make a dent though. I see it gets just 69 screens (compared to Skyfall's current 209 screens), so I guess they are not expecting much.Taken 2 was released here today so curious to see if skyfall will be affected and how much
