So Russia, just like other enmeging moive markets, has been competely dominated by Hollywood film.It's only a temporary situation for several weeks without strong hollywood releases. Late January till late March or first days of April in the first half of year. And October - December in the second half. It happens every year. Usually very few russian movies have summer release dates.

Russian movies did well recently, it's a good sign for Russian film industry.Russia comedy What men are doing grossed 22-23 mln RUB on Thursday. 2nd place took Renny Harlin's triller/horror The Dyatlov Pass Incident. Around 16 mln RUB on Thursday.Metro finished on 3rd with 9-9.5 mln RUB. 39% drop from last Thursday. Die Hard 5 around 2.6 mln RUB with 68% drop.This Is 40 2.3-2.4 mln RUB.The Last Stand 2.3-2.4 mln RUB with 65% drop.

It seems the second week drop for metro would blew 40%, 10m could be easy to achieve.It had very good midweek grosses. Around 485-490k for Monday, Tuesday and Wedesday. So 5.93-5.94m 7day total.

Both of them are so American, no wonder they failed in Russia. Do u have the estimates of all new release moives so far?Zero Dark Thirty is doing awful business. On par with Lincoln or maybe even worse.

Nothing's exceptional, just like the prediction.First Thursday trend:Metro easily wins with 16-17 mln RUB (530-560k). Die Hard 5 dropped by 80% compared to last Thursday. Around 8.5 mln RUB (280-285k). The Last Stand 6.5-7mln Thursday (215-230k). Hitchcock 2.2-2.3 mln Thursday (75k).

Too bad,die hard 5's second weekend BO would just equal to the second weekend BO of Chinese zodiac, it is almost a failure for a mega blockbuster.Too many people already have strong distrust towards russian films. It's hard to fight against it. Last week was a bit inflated with Valentine's Day + Die Hard5 got really bad world of mouth. The best case is around 60% drop.

And I just find out an interesting thing, there's no Russian movie on top 10 this February.Gladiators or Rome released here through our small independent distributors Luxor. They usually buy and release european films with moderate box office potential. Sometimes they release 2nd rated animated films from Europe or Asia like this one Gladiators of Rome is already the 3rd highest grossing among their releases. Only Upside Down and german Animals United grossed more. Midweek grosses for children films are very low here during the school year. Last week it grossed only 180-190k monday-wednesday.

I thought this imply a heavy drop for die hard on second weekend, such a bad news. How about gladiator of Rome, does its midweek BO excess Chinese zodiac?They have english titles below russians. Daily grosses? Not likely, at least in free service. On Tuesday Die Hard 5 dropped by 7%. Almost everything else increased. The Impossible by 6%, Les Miserables by 22%.

new chart? Daily chart? Couldn't find anything new on Kinometro, can u give me a link?The Master dropped only by 56%. Still its only on 83 screens. The Impossible dropped by 67%. Around 100k Monday.New chart is available by now on Kinometro. Gladiators of Rome held well still with very low midweek grosses it wont go far from now.

Good day to die hard could be the last die hard moive, it is a pity that die hard 5 fail to become another classic action moive.Russian office of Fox International tried to correct some errors and mistakes but apparently they didnt care. Right now everyone is bashing the movie. Even most of the action fans do not like it.
And just to tell how popular this franchise here. All four previous Die Hard movies yesterday were on prime TV channel. And the ratings were sky high. In Moscow share was between 20-25%.

die hard 5 is a cranberry movie? Is this a main reason that die hard 5 didn't reach the expectation?On Russian such movies called cranberry. Have no idea why. It means a bad quality movie filled with silly stereotypes and mistakes about russians and Russia. Or a film with intentionally bad attitude toward russia or russians usually combined with same stereotypes and mistakes. Most of the time they are laughable and even might be amusing. Still sometimes cranberry movie can easily become offensive. From the previous experience, usually your estimation is quite close to the actual number, its reliability has been proven. Can u tell us the estimates of this weekend for top 10?During weekends usually around 50% of theaters report. Usually enough to make rough estimates and projections.The Impossible should be on third with around 820k for the weekend.

According to the average multiplier, Beautiful Creatures could get 2.5m, and 0.68m for les mis? With the 6 multiplier, Chinese zodiac would gross 9m after weekend.any accurate number on Friday for these movies so far?Old Die Hard films are very popular here so it was supposed to be frontloaded. Plus Valentine's Day on Thursday caused very low weekend multiplier. Chinese Zodiac for example will have only 6 compared to 10 last week. So 4.4-4.5 against usual 6.3-6.5 doesnt look that bad. Average grade fell to 5.45 though. That is nearly disastrous for hollywood blockbuster.

I would say around 6.6 mln opening for Die Hard5. A bit disappointing after good first day.

I expect die hard 5 would achieve 7.5m this weekend, and probably 2 multiplier for total gross.Yes, but the weekend multiplyer should be much lower than usual. I'm not even sure about 7mln weekend. Still it will beat Die Hard 4 comfortably. Despite awful reviews and word of mouth. Actually some people are really disgusted by the film, how it showed Russia and how stupid it is.
