Well, I've finally seen all the Oscar nominees, and none of them have displaced Argo as my top film of the year. I still can't believe Affleck didn't get a Best Director nod. WTF, Academy?

650,000 BRDs sold in the first week...http://collider.com/dredd-blu-ray-dvd-digital-download-best-seller/Pete Travis hopes for another crack at the franchise...http://www.movies.com/movie-news/dredd-interview-pete-travis/11018

I don't think Nolan is a bad director, but his style of film-making leaves me cold. I think the Joker bits of TDK were the only time I felt something other than frustration or boredom. After slogging through Inception, I was done with him.

I've seen "The Princess Bride" about 100 times.

I take back my criticism of the Academy.Interesting fact, Ted got more nominations than TDKR
-
Neither Affleck nor Bigelow were nominated? Sometimes I wonder what's happening in the addled brains of the Academy. Do they actually watch the films/performances they vote for?

I was talking about the rankings. Sorry for the confusion. There probably won't be any sales data for a few days, but chances are there's a sizable gap in units sold also.Where are the stats from? I see the best seller list, but I don't see where the margin is.

Amazon ranks products according to sales. To wit:http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/ref=sv_mov_1
-
It's now the number one selling movie on Amazon by a wide margin. Yay! Hopefully long term sales remain brisk. At the very least, this film deserves cult classic status.
-
FYI, it's currently the 8th best seller in Movies and TV on Amazon behind Avatar and a bunch of TV shows. Let's push it to #1!

I suppose anything is possible, but unless it becomes insanely popular on home video/streaming/etc., the prospects are not good. So, is there any chance at all of a sequel??
-
It's already in the black. Has been for awhile now.lincoln needs a high US domestic gross, as its not known or cared about internationally, in order to pay back its huge production cost
-
If Lincoln wins BP, does it get to 200M?
-
I find it curious that some people act like Prometheus is the first movie ever made based on a leaky script in which the characters do stupid shit.

Those are fair points, but I'm not sure you ever really get to know Judge Dredd. He's a symbol.
-
I think DiCaprio should work with Warren Beatty, since he's looking increasingly like this guy:
-
Lincoln just keeps on chuggin...
-
We'll see. The U.S. economy isn't the only thing headed for a fiscal cliff.Hobbit is safe now, Saturday increases will definitely boost it so it can hit $300M.

That's the plot? Yuck. I was on the fence about renting it, but I think I'll pass.Let's agree to disagree.I honestly thought TDKR wasn't too complicated. The storyline right here:Bane wants to destroy and rebuild Gotham as an anarchist society. Bruce Wayne loses his company and goes from billionaire to bum. Has a fight with Bane and is paralyzed. Somehow is healed by some guard (by only pressing the veterbrae into his back ), learns about how Bane and goes back to Gotham. Bane sets a time bomb and Bruce Wayne (now Batman) drags the bomb to sea using the Bat. Bomb explodes, everyone thinks Batman is dead, but really Bruce Wayne is living peacefully with Selina Kyle, never to become Batman again.Oh, yes, a city cop is the successor of Batman.

Subjectively: I was swept away by the atmosphere of the film, and I thought the post-credits scene was the perfect capper. By the way, complainers, that last bit was solely Carnahan's choice, so respect da filmmaker.Objectively: Entertaining, but not great. Too many cornballs and contrivances.
-
I think a lot of people dislike TDKR partly due to the TDKR fanboys, many of whom are obnoxious and repellent.

That's a good point. I consider GoT a superior product to anything in the Jackson oeuvre, but I prefer "low" fantasy to "high" fantasy. Some people feel differently.

That was my prediction...in July.Sorry, I need to gloat a bit.The Hobbit according to BoxOfficeGuru should finish near 275M

Enrico Colantoni is brilliant in this movie. Mathesar is probably my all-time favorite screen alien.
The rest of the film ain't too shabby, either.
