Ugh, bad drop for TLK. The raw amount of money for it is still big (before everyone jumps on me defending it) but it's safe to say this thing isn't going to have the epic legs we all thought it would. No excuses.
People have been trained to wait til Tuesday....
My brother and his family being the perfect example. The use to go on Mondays since he has a half day off work..now he makes it fit on Tuesday. They are going to see LK again today.

Where do they go after The Little Mermaid?
I believe Snow White would be fantastic with A list actors shrunk down to play dwarfs using CGI tech.
Johnny Depp as Dopey
Robert Downey as Bashful
Etc.....
Guess Disney could get in trouble for not hiring real little people....😎
Pixar's Inside/Out would be cool too....

Elton doesn't sing "Can you feel the love tonight" in the original animated film either.
Elton's version was on the soundtrack and released to radio, but it actually has different lyrics even then the movie version....
Didn't Elton sing it during the credits?

Did you all watch the Cats trailer? Nightmare. After watching that, I was so thankful that TLK did not go that route.
Someone is losing a lot of $$$$$.....

Did anyone else miss not hearing Elton John.....😒? That duet was horrible on "Can you feel the love tonight".
Overall 7.5/10
Playing every 15 mins at my 16 Cineplex.

Canada was completely on discount Tuesday yesterday. There's 10% of your tickets. I'm sure half of the USA was doing discount Tuesday as well. So yeah it does make a difference.
A large group of us went to Cinemark yesterday to catch Spiderman expecting to pay the normal $11.50 plus tax....when we arrived it was only $5.00. Sweet!
We had a beer after the show and declared that Sony covered the tab. It had to of made a difference in the Tuesday number.

I thought this sentence in the Deadline article was interesting and worth remembering.
On social media, RelishMix noticed that most of the negative buzz, like critics, came from those with zero interest in Disney live action cartoon remakes.
Such negative buzz, which rival studios enjoyed sniping about at CinemaCon, hasn’t seeped into the general moviegoers’ consciousness.
That's something to remember, it's not a small subset of people on a message board like us that determine the success of a film, it is the GA at large. Basically they are saying those negative responses would have been there regardless of how good or bad the trailers were.
I'm also curious what the final marketing budget is for Aladdin, there has been alot of chatter that Disney did not promote this one as much as some of he previous remakes. I suspect this will end up making a small profit for them just from the theatrical release, but its important to remember that Disney is not a movie studio - it is an entertainment conglomerate. It will likely make a really nice profit off of it once all the ancillaries are added in.
Disney will still be making money on Aladdin 500 years from now.

The original "Raiders of the lost ark" played at a theater where my brother worked for over a year. They only had 8 screens.

James Gunn is now old news. It sucks no one can say anything without it coming back to haunt you 10 years later. Our new world.....sad but true.
Ok.......Who directs GOTG3?
My guess is Taika Waititi.

98% of the general public wouldn't know if 700 million is good or bad for Black Panther (and don't care). I told my wife last week that Avengers 3 was going to come up short of 700 million and she said "I guess they won't make another one."

JW2 is definitely not as bad as those 4 transformers( I say four bc I liked the first one), and it’s critical rating although mixed is much higher than Transformers 2-5.
Agree on Transformers One.
Really like the parts on the island in JW2. It's when they got to the mansion everything fell off the cliff.

Fantastic Four, X-men, Deadpool, etc?
Just because James Gunn will be done with them......there is no reason we couldn't see a Star Lord, Rocket, or Drax in Avengers 5.

A Wednesday drop similar to that of FINDING DORY gives I2 $21.1M for Wednesday. We will see where it lands.
I hope we see it a bit higher 22.8m so that Thursday can still start with the number 2.

When did earning money and employing thousands of people become a bad thing. I hope they make 15 billion. It's not like they'll sit on the money......they will start new projects and employee even more.

Just an observation- I2 was the first movie this summer that the audience clapped at the end of the picture. In my theater at least.
Saw it a 2pm est today....the theater was 80% full. We also had a good bit of clapping. Haven't seen that at an animation flick since TS3.

Yea I have no idea how the hell Solo held onto all those theaters especially with its PTA. It's a shame to see Book Club and Deadpool 2 lose so many theaters
Why wouldn't it.....Solo is still outselling everything else. Plenty of other films to drop.
As Disney would say "number one movie in the world"
