No, Geoff is now getting the coffee for this new boss

no he is still president for ALL things DC including the films. It says in the article

    Quote

Johns remains at DC as a president and chief creative officer, but his portfolio doesn’t just involve film. He will continue to provide creative guidance into the company’s television and comic book efforts. An official announcement of Hamada’s hire, Warner Bros. said Johns will “work closely” with the new production president.

See, I have two biases. I am against identity politics(that's where my nick comes from btw, not the reason you mentioned) and i am against Snyder (because he murdered one of my favourite comics, the Watchmen).

Hence, I wasn't as impressed as the critics by WW, and I thought JL was too much of a mess to even enjoy.

I am not looking forward to anything made by James Wan.

    :winomg:Why ?

    What is better?

    a) a 2.43 (i'm gonna give you that out of pity) for a movie that opened under 100m 4 weeks before TLJ

b)a 2.53 for a movie that opened over 120m 6 weeks before TLJ and 2 weeks before a movie that you are trying to convince me that it did well

    :qotd:

having 6 weeks before SW is better than 4 weeks. SW is a phenomenon like no other franchise can match. I know where your bias lies with that name of yours that was only created to mock reviews for BvS. Do you even like any DCEU movies ?

Justice League has yet to manage a 2.4x.  That is not good, at all.

actually its on 2.43 now. Thor has 2.53. Thor had more time before Star Wars took away all theaters. So which one really has better multiple here.

Justice League may have better legs than BvS but a 2.4x multiplier for a $90M+ Opening Weekend isn't that good.

Thor Ragnarok has 2.53 and JL is on 2.43 right now. And Thor had more time before Star Wars came. So are you saying Thor also has not a good multipler.

    9 hours ago, Napoleon said:

horrible legs, and be prepared for low home video sales too.

Thor Ragnarok 2.53 and more time before Star Wars took all theaters away from both

    JL 2.43

    BvS 1.99

JL horrible legs you say :wintf:

Superman in Justice League is not comic book accurate and I find it hard to believe this is the Superman everyone wanted. There's no evidence of that. JL is getting shitty legs for the release date and small opening weekend it had.

I don't know why there's this misconception of what audiences want from Superman. Numbers don't lie, and BVS had the 5th highest opening day of all time at the time promising exactly the Superman we see in the movie.

WB never tricked anyone into thinking they were getting a jokey Superman in MOS and BVS. If audiences rejected that Superman, BVS would have bombed from the get go. As seen by JL's box office performance, people won't show up for something that looks bad just because they're fans of the characters.

Release the Snyder cut, issue an apology to the fans, and pretend the Joss Whedon/Geoff Johns reshoots never happened. It's the only way to save this franchise.

What in the hell are you babbling about. JL legs is FAR better than BvS. BvS did not even manage 2.0 multiple thats really not good BvS opened big because it was the trinity in a movie together the first time plus curiosity for the new Batman. Which people love now. I like BvS too but that 1.99 multipler is clear rejection from the GA of the tone of the movie. JL is entertaining and fun and people like that very much.

And this is the Supes everyone want. The only ones who complain is the Snyder Cult. You are more fans of Snyder than the DC universe. Now thats totally out there. Also there is no freakin snyder cut fo crying out loud. You Snyder fans are completely out of touch with reality and with all your insane complaining you actually think you are helping. Well newsflash you are not. All you do is whine and whine. And people are sick and tired of it. I mean this petition. going on for a cut not existing is just insanity to a new degree.

Aquaman, then Shazam, then Wonder Woman 2, then Flashpoint for soft reboot purposes.

    There you go.

we will get MoS sequel and they will extend the contracts for cavill and for others who are on its last movies. Flashpoint maybe will be used as way to get Ben out. ButJL was in all in fact a reboot too with a more fun and adventures tone. Plus Supes is now the  Supes everyone had been asking forsince MoS

  7. 1 hour ago, dudalb said:

Shazam was greenlighted before BVS came out, and Warners thought that BvS was going to do "Avengers/Dark Knight" level numbers.

I guess it's too far along the production track to be cancelled without incurring major costs with having to buy out contracts, etc.

    more guess work.

DIffrence is that Marvel Studios is good at it, while DC Studios,so far are not. Marvel built up it's reputation with film goers so they would give off beat efforts like GOTG and Ant Man a chance. DC Studios has NOT gained filmgoers confidence in that manner.

It's also that until Wonder Woman, the DCU was pretty much single toned...all dark, gritty and gloomy. Whereas MArvel Studios always tried to very the tone of their movies.

It's all about how something is executed, people.

Because critics TELL you they are good at it. Its a fact that many people are SHEEP when it comes to it hell even Loke mentioned it in Avengers 1 too the crowd and he was so damn right. How would anyone else explain how a man like Hitler could rise to power.

SS was a huge commercial success. That was going in a complete other direction. SS was not very dark either. MCU never in anyway try to tone their movies so what are you talking about. All of them are comedies with the same tone in everyone of their movies.

    3D without glasses

New aquatic cameras with extreme realism shots

    Rumours about HDR too

And this is just what we know right now, probably they'll have a lot of more tricks to create buzz

That will require all new theater set ups and will cost a fortune for theaters around the globe.

    Bomb?Budget is $45M.

So it has to make at least 90-100 million to see some returns. I think it can get there

    13 minutes ago, EmpireCity said:

Why in the world would they do that?

Even if Star Wars becomes normal and not a gigantic event, they are still going to churn out $700m-$1.5b every time they make one.  If they can keep the budgets more in line of a $175m for the stories and $225m for the chapter, they are going to print money.

I think Skywalker/Vader is the thing that brings in people to see Star Wars. A whole new story in SW universe is not a sure success

They are a takeover target for the likes of Disney or WB. Paramount has some very popular movies on home video like Godfather 1/2, Titanic, Ferris Bueller, Grease, etc. But their new product is garbage.

They do have MI franchise too which is pretty huge and only getting better each year. I can not see Disney allowed to buy more movie studios then its basically a complete monopoly and they would also cannibalize their own movies because they would have no room to open them more apart each other. Dont think WB wanna buy it either.

November is pretty good. Could see Thor3 legs with a $145M OW. The only thing it has to worry about is Bond and Frozen 2.

Are that technology even ready. And wouldn't theaters need massive upgrades in the billion dollar mark too ?

November is good if it opens close to october like Thor:Ragnarok did.

I don't think Avatar 2 will drop that much [actually i think it could match the 1st movie], exactly because of inflation plus the new technologies the movie will bring

But for JW2, yeah, i can see a bigger drop than Ultron

what new technology are you hearing it has ?

WB should  move Wonder Woman 2 back to December 2019. Co -existence is possible .Not much to fear now. Episode 9 will do Rogue one numbers or lower.

i agree they should move it to a month with more off days. November is a shitty month

WB must be trolling us. There must be a script for this somewhere.

the way Cavill talked about Supes return in a new movie at ACE comic con. I think they have something cooking. Also extending his contract as well.He hinted to playing Superman for years to come. Even joked about him still being Superman when he is in his 50's lol

  13. 3 hours ago, Napoleon said:

According to Variety, yes. He and Jon Berg no longer run DC Films and Johns will not have any involvement with future DC movies and WB is looking for someone else for the job.

yeah thats not how i read the article at all. He is still very much involved with DCEU. berg seems to be history though. And cavill will definitely extend his contract the way he talked at ACE comic con.

Cavill has 1 film left on his contract, according to him.

Also why is it that DCEU fans themselves buy into the narrative (originally set up by detractors) that Cavill's Superman up to that revival was always a brooding serious sour puss? It's weird.

they will extend his contract. You did not hear cavill at ACE comic con 2 weekends ago.

  15. Theater counts does not add up with what gitesh said. Thor is losing 63% aong with many others as well along with JL 59% so what was gitesh babbling about Thor not losing any
