I still remember the first time I got interested in box office and stumbled upon Box Office Mojo in 2005. I kept seeing articles and stories everywhere about people camping out for star wars and just how much money it was going to make when it came out in a few weeks. Star Wars will always hold a special place in my heart because it was my first blockbuster I ever followed. Thus, spawning my obsession with blockbusters since. I remember the 16.9M midnight number and the 50M Thursday. Its crazy that 10 years later, a new star wars is out and rewriting the record books as we know it. Cant wait to track it the next two months. Hope everyone is as excited as I am.

Getting ahead here I know, but I really hope this can do 1 billion.
Way Way ahead.. Unless this does 160M+ this weekend 1B is a pipe dream. I think anything over Avatar would be amazing. So seeing as that is nearly a lock now, i can't be anymore ecstatic then I am now.

Looks like 35M should be the floor for Monday with those numbers. Hoping for 40M+

TFA- 9.5/10
TA- 9/10
JW- 8/10
AoU-5.5/10
IM3-5/10
Marvel movies are honestly slipping. Last one I enjoyed was the second Captain America.

I'll give this a quick shot, treating TFA as Avatar "Lite"(worse drops down the line):
Mon: 36.3m (-40%)
Tue: 34.5m (-5%)
Wed: 34.5m (-0%)
Thu: 21.7m (-37%)
375m 1st week total
Fri: 43.5m (+100%)
Sat: 52.1m (+20%)
Sun: 42.7m (-18%)
138.3m 2nd Weekend (-44.2%)
513.3m 10 Day total
Mon: 32.0m (-25%)
Tue: 29.4m (-8%)
Wed: 29.4m (-0%)
Thu: 22.0m (-25%)
626.1m 2 Week Total, 2015 Total
Fri: 36.4m (+65%)
Sat: 36.4m (-0%)
Sun: 23.6m (-35%)
96.4m 3rd Weekend (-30.3%)
722.5m heading into post-holiday run.
If TFA has this kind of run everyone should be pleased with its success. 800M will be locked then!

Anyone have reports from major cities? How are sell outs looking? Sorry for asking. I have been out of box office for a while now. Use to be apart of Mojo back in the day.

Just got back from my 3rd viewing of TFA. Awesome theater, first off. NCG is the theater I just went too and paid 8 dollars for the Xtreme theater. (RPX) equivalent, could not believe how cheap it was. Next the 12:05 showing, just a regular 2D showing was sold out, and my showing is sold out. When I left the next 3-4 showings were sold out too by the time I got home. Pretty amazing for a Monday!

Out. Not happening. 42-46% drop.

Amazing hold for Sunday! Wonder if Disney is working some magic to pull some money from Friday and give a little extra to Saturday so that it can have all records for FRI-SUN! Easily see this doing 31-35M today.

Honestly an astounding weekend! How anyone can try to take anything away from what TFA did this weekend is astounding. Records are falling like domino's and this movie deserves every dime it is getting. Currently have seen it twice and plan to see it a third time soon. This movie could possible be over 500M by Dec 27th, that is something we will probably not see again for awhile. BvS and CW will not be able to come close to what we are seeing now.

pretty sure the GA will enjoy the trailer. Not the best but good enough to strike people's interest. Anybody know the budget for the movie?
