  1. I don't think a 70% drop is out of the question. This is where the critical stench and the bad of mouth are going to do real damage. I think BvS would have had decent legs with at least one of those on its side, but without either of them it's going to fall like a rock.

Ahh, I'll still end up buying the bluray. I've got to see the full cut. Even if it contains more TrollLuthor.

  2. URL]Saw it yesterday and I was pretty impressed. Not a huge fan of the character, but I have read a couple of graphic novels. I don't know if this will catapult Reynolds's career the way IM did for RDJ, but at least he's finally got a hit.

I really think the low expectations for this movie helped it in so many ways. It seems like Reynolds and company made a film with little to no studio interference. I can't imagine a rated R CMB getting made under Disney/Marvel or WB/DC. Both universes have their own characters that could use this kind of approach. I wouldn't mind seeing a rated R Lobo flick. After what XMen Origins did to the character, this movie is friggin' miraculous.

I've seen a couple of rips at Sin City while I was going through the thread. I loved Sin City, but SC:ADtKF was a friggin' trainwreck. It was just as bad as The Spirit.

But back to Deadpool, I'll always love the character for this panel:

  3. Snow, HA! Men care nothing of snow! We would kill local wildlife with our bare hands and use their pelts to clothe us and from their skeletons we would fashion sleds to traverse the puny snow. Our children and wives would pull our sleds while we watched Star Wars blu rays. Our devices would be powered by our firm pecs and buttocks and of course, the tears of our enemies.

But yeah, this storm is brutal. It's probably cost everyone 10-20% across the board. I do think it saved a lot of parents from suffering through the 5th wave.

  4. This storm has got to be brutal on the numbers this weekend. We may not be back in school here in SW, Virginia until Wed. But, the main roads should be in great shape by Monday so maybe I'll be able to sneak in a quick trip to the movies. Anything to get out of the house!

But tomorrow belongs to football. I'm hoping Manning can ride off into the sunset with a win.

Wow... spent the day shoveling snow and trapped in the house watching blurays and the Cavs welcome their new coach by laying an egg. I check in for some numbers and it's nothing but wrestling and, and, and.... so much man love....

Yeah, I'm going to grab and an ax from the garage, go out into the snow and start chopping down trees. Then I'll carry in the firewood and start watching every Stallone and Arnold movie I have. If any of the women in the house complain about my not showering or shaving I'll put them in their place Connery style with a quick back hand and order them to fix me something to eat. Like a man, a real man!

how much will be the earnings in the next 4 eeks with your model?

would you mind to show them week by week?

    thanks!

You've got way stronger holds than I do. I have TFA's last million dollar days around the weekend of Mar.18-20 and that's when it crawls past $930M.

This December news is very interesting. December belongs to Star Wars for at least the next few years. Will any other blockbuster even try to go toe to toe with SW?

That drop was pretty close to what I had on my model. I think TFA will hit $900M around Jan 31.

I think that milestone might be later into February, maybe even ~ middle?

Only to make it clear, only bcs I am so fascinated with the TTT calculation model = waiting for the break of that ~ model, I am not sure about SW7 going as far over $900m as some seem to think.

I think a bit more is possible, depending a lot on the market in general for the next ~ 2-3 weeks, but I do not count on it.

Beside that, each additional $ is already gravy since some time, even if it would get pulled today....

I'm using a modified Avatar model. I've basically taken most of Avatar days and given TFA weaker holds on most days. It's been pretty stable for the last week or so. By the end of February I think TFA has a shot at $920+M. Not much more.

If someone had told me that on Dec. 1st I would have told them they had a drinking problem.

  8. Best Original Score as well. They should have thrown in the Best Pic as well. The critical and historic BO success earned it a nomination. I'm not saying it would have deserved the statue when all was said and done, but they could have at least nominated it. Especially now that up to 10 pics can get nominations.

  9. Wow, much better hold than I was expecting. With another $13M on Sunday we should be looking at $42-$44M and another weekend at #1. Curious to see what we can do from Mon-Thurs this week. Could be anywhere from $14-20M. 1B is looking tough, but $900M is a lock. If anyone had told me we'd be hitting that before Dec. 18 I would have told them they were drunk.

There's always debate. He didn't face specialize pitching or blacks, hispanics or Japanese players. He wasn't a great defensive player or stole a lot of bases. Honestly Ted Williams can easily be argued as better offensive player and as much as I hate to say it, Bonds put the fear of god when he came to the plate.

I have to get into this!!!!! What will always elevate Ruth above Mays and Williams was that he was on his way to becoming a HOF pitcher before he became a full-time hitter and OF. Bonds doesn't even make it into the discussion for me. He disgraced himself and the game. Bonds, McGuire, and Sosa all cheated and I'm glad the only way they'll get into the HOF is as a visitor.

But honestly, we're splitting hairs. Mays and Williams were phenomenal ball players. Ways was arguably the greatest 5-tool player ever and Williams the greatest hitter ever. He'd have broken the homerun record if not for his military service. And don't forget DiMaggio. He lost years to the service as well. All great players.
