So, the best PTA after The Upside was.... Destroyer?

Has there been any box office tracking for Hereditary?

Anything less than 140 honestly. It needs to make up for this weak Tuesday.

One of my favorite details: the opening prologue (an animated sequence which tells the origins of Wakanda) is Prince N'Jobu telling the story of his homeland to his young son, Erik.

To put this into context, TLJ was doing around 55-60 sets per minute at approx the same time on its Sunday before release.
Given that SW fans are nusto about presales, I think this looks very good for BP, personally.
Do we know what previous Marvel films did at this point in time before release...?

Disney had their business earnings call a few hours ago and said Black Panther is outpacing all superhero movie sales.
Holy. Crap.

Pretty sure they say in the film that he's 17 (almost 18).

Tonya is only 11 away from 30 dom after a 3.03 weekend (+6% at that). Should be easy. It's prod budget is only 11.
Makes me wonder if it'll get a winter olympics expansion/bump...

(Down from approx. 394,000 Tuesday... which is about 11%?)
EDIT: The film is also expanding to 960 locations this weekend.

Looks like TSOW went up 6.6% from Tuesday to Wednesday: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/

Did Hostiles even get a technical nomination?

I, Tonya's arguable under-performance makes me wonder if they'll risk putting it in 1500 theaters this weekend, or keep it closer to a (safer) 1000...

Also I Tonya is a film that I really liked but can definitely see why someone wouldn’t like it. Some parts try way too hard and how it handles Tonya’s abuse is shockingly poor
A completely subjective opinion, but I disagree. (This piece states why far better than I ever could.)

Is the Hostile theatre count and PTA a typo? Doesn't make sense that it a has higher PTA in 5th weekend on 49 theatres than its OW in only 3 theatres.
I'm looking at Box Office Mojo, and hmmmmmm....

It’s interesting to watch the award films during this time.
Lady Bird, Darkest Hour, Shape of Water and Three Billboards have already done great getting over $30m before the big nominations. I Tonya is already half way there. The Post was the most expensive I think and that’ll end up with a big total.
Shame about CMBYN expansion.
So, what's the ceiling for I, TONYA? $30-40 million?

@EmpireCity any word on Tonya and CMBYN?
Still not seeing any Friday numbers for I, TONYA... so I'm also interested in what @EmpireCity has to say...

It's only getting three theaters in Orlando, but my area a bit north is getting it too. The TC is probably around 600 theaters given Neon's history with Ingrid Goes West

I imagine it could be tempting to go really slow to keep the movie alive until the winter Olympics (that a speculation made about that very slow release)
I had that thought, as well. I'm really curious to see how they play this.

Thanks! (I wasn't sure if they'd hold steady for now and wait until after Oscar nominations to continue the expansion...)
-
Totally random question, but is I, Tonya expanding any further this weekend? (I know it's currently at about 250 theaters...)
