This is all a bit dramatic.
The MCU is in a bad way but things change. Marvel Studios had a run that was never seen before, maybe people are just ready to move on.
-
Jesus what is the 2nd weekend going to be?
Definitely an unprecedented run happening here. Seems the audience are hungry for new stories and franchises. I know it’s based on IP but it looking fresh and fun is a big reason for its success after the overload of CGI superhero snorefests.- 3

People watched Infinity War without watching other Marvel films.
I don’t think you need to watch Wandavision and Ms. Marvel for this. Only if you want to see how they got their powers.

Looks fun, some nice shots in the trailer. Reviews will be important here.
There seems to be a lack of interest. I’d like to see the film do well but we’ll see.
-
Just outright rejection from audiences with The Flash.
I’m shocked tbh. Warner Bros probably thought this was gonna be a smash hit for them…
Gunn should be alright though. He’s a good filmmaker and I think he understands what people want from Superman/DC (also will have better CGI)

The most recent reviews on RT are fairly positive. Critically it’s not doing too bad.
Maybe word of mouth might help here.

Looks good.
I think Keatons Batman return is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here with all the nostalgia. The shots with the Batwing look great.

The ticket sales for this…jeez.
Just hope the film is good and strong WOM help it’s in the following weeks.
The MCU is just in a bad place atm. Not really getting people excited for the future.

Since I already posted it twice, I won't triple/quadruple post by making this comment in the D+ or Loki thread, but I now wonder just what this means for the marketing for Loki S2 as I understand Majors has at least some role in it. How, ahem, major of a role it is, I don't know given that I don't follow the MCU news all that closely.
Regardless though, I wouldn't want to be on the Disney PR team that has to crack that particular nut.
Yeah it will be really interesting with Loki 2.
I think that might just stick with Majors for release and maybe reshoot an ending with a new variant or whatever they call it.
Looks like Majors is done after the most recent reports, I wonder if they will stick with Kang or sort of jig things around.
I imagine we might see some major MCU delays anyway.

When you hit the heights of something like Endgame, it’s hard to recreate the magic.
Also to double down after something like Endgame with half assed movies and tv shows, just contributed to the MCU “demise” narrative.
Can they recover? Maybe but they will never reach Endgame levels again.
One thing I would do is scrap this Kang stuff and start again, Quantumania killed all the hype for this saga or whatever they call it.
Give us DOCTOR DOOM!

Wow the dislikes are crazy. The trailer is the most inoffensive, fun little preview for the film.

It looks promising. They are clearly marketing it as a straight up fun adventure with this body swap twist. Sort of refreshing imo. Whether it’s good now, we’ll see.
Also is it really a Captain Marvel 2? It’s called the Marvels and seems like all the main characters are getting to all share the focus, which is cool imo.
-
There is just a lack of hype for this.
I like the Guardians but after Endgame, you sort of just want to move on from all these sequels. Marvel is burning its audience out.
Also the quality issue, if there is any chance this gets mixed/negative and disappointing box office (I don’t think it will), I’m interested to see how Marvel respond if at all.

It's that the openers also skew more Mother's Day than an MCU movie...so, for example, Book Club 2 will likely get a big screen for its open vs a podunk 60 seater b/c people are gonna want somewhere to take mom and grandmom, and MCU raccoon family isn't normally it...
It's a holiday weekend that won't help GOTG3...so it's dropping the norm 60+, EVEN IF it opens in a subpar to its expectations way...
It all depends on how well received the movie is though.
I do expect a 60% drop but if it opens below expectations but is received well, it could surprise us.
-
I’ve got to agree. The marketing has been bad on this one.
No real hook with the trailers and they are not really selling it as the “final” Guardians movie as much as they should.
Not really making it a must-see event might help though, maybe it won’t the big 2nd weekend drop the last few Marvel films have suffered if WOM is good lol.

The bottom 7 are all Phase 4/5 movies lol.
Just shows the trend really.
-
To be fair, since Endgame the only MCU that hasn’t fallen over 60% in its 2nd week is Shang Chi.
It’s a trend that these movies are dropping in quality but maybe the franchise has just become more frontloaded too.

Jesus that is awful, this film is falling over 70% this weekend.
-
The Marvels I imagine is a 500m movie. 225 domestic + 275 international.
Captain Marvel had the Endgame buzz. This film naturally will just have a big drop.

These Asian are just not showing up for MCU movies like they used too.
-
China numbers are terrible but the lose of South Korea to the MCU box office is a more serious issue imo.
These numbers are just falling off.
-
It’s terrible. Marvel is not the monster it once was in China but it’s better than nothing I suppose.
40m added to its worldwide total will it make it look a little bit better lol -
