Here's how I would rank it with the rest of the series, which might not look great on first glance but this is a damn good series on the whole. I can't quite believe they pulled it off yet again.

We are reaching levels of back previously unheard of.

Saw it this morning and liked it quite a bit. Feels like you're watching a real movie which is nice, and it does have its own ideas going on. It's far less elegant and sophisticated than the previous three, and the pacing struggles for a while, but it does end well and I'm curious to see where they take it next. I don't know how a regular audience will take it, but I'm so glad it didn't turn into some blockbuster slop, it takes its time and treats the craft and the characters seriously. I am certain it will be one of the highlights for me this summer movie season.

I never quite understood the talking point that Fury Road has no story. A simplistic story that’s largely told through a “two hour car chase” is still a story.
And for a "simplistic story" it's extremely well colored-in and rich in detail & texture. It's phenomenally well told.

Seeing it very very early Tuesday and am naturally really looking forward to it as a major fan of the series. I was hesitant for a long while but everything that's come out over the years just seemed like the right decisions were being made, so these early reactions are nice to see too.

movies with mixed receptions are usually the most interesting but I feel like that doesn’t bode well for this particular one given the unanimous “that was fuckin awesome” reactions to its predecessor. There’s rarely an in-between with the action genre. The unanimous "that was fucking awesome" reactions to the predecessor went the exact same way at these test screenings.

They should've kept the Horrorscope title.

YEEES I loved this. Great red carpet premiere, wonderful score, phenomenal audience, fantastic visuals. Guadagnino-heads have been served.

Saw a rerelease of Fury Road today and man it just never got better than that. Undefeatable theatrical experience.

Absolutely devastating timing. Her work on Hearts of Darkness is impeccable.

Great reviews pouring out now.

I thought this was very good. It took me a while to get on board but once I did I saw it all in completely new light. It's a movie about journalism and the geopolitical vagueness is most definitely a feature and not a bug.

Embargo has dropped. Mostly good, some mixed, and RogerEbert's Tomris Laffly with a 3.5/4.

Worst of Monsterverse is better than most of Bayformers.
I would say that Transformers would've been as good as Monsterverse had they avoided extra focus on sexual innuendos, rasict jokes, and actually making transformers distinguishable from each other.
Monsterverse for most part is straightforward, atleast you can see different monsters look distinguished from each other, action is clearer and less sex & rasicm.
Also no I'm standing below the scrotum of enemy stuff.
All this and also the longest one of these MonsterVerse movies is 132 minutes long, coincidentally by far the worst received of the series so far. Everything else either doesn't cross or barely crosses 2 hours. Those Bay movies are challenging you to stick with them for waaay longer.
