  1. WW84 does have a new release day. Black Widow doesn't. And Disney might be in real financial crisis, hence they might need some big money quickly and not a year from now. If the world pandemic situation continues for a long time, Disney might consider to release Black Widow and Mulan online, considering that Onward is doing very well with its digital release. I still think that Black Widow will be released on theaters, but i don't rule out other possibilities.

  2. Star Wars is failing in China for one main simple reason: no nostalgia factor. Chinese authorities allowed american movies only after 1994, so the original trilogy was not seen by the chinese public. The Force Awakens made $125 in China on purely hype alone. But after the hype was gone, and without any nostalgia to rely on, the rest of the Star Wars movies just crumbled at the box office, with Rise of Skywalker doing a measly $16 total.

But Bob Iger already said in public that he will add more female executives for Disney before he leave.

Just get the best people for the job, male or female. Announcing that more females executives are coming, without knowing their value, is just more pandering for the progressive crowd.

  4. This movie was going to flop no matter who was going to star in it. Terminator was a dead franchise but Hollywood can't help themselves, they suffer from a severe case of sequelitis. I guess it's easier to just remake old hits with the same movie plot and some new actors, and it's much harder to get creative and start new original franchises. And the bosses at Paramount (and the other studios) need a mental check for approving a nearly $200 million budget for this, after the last successful Terminator film was in 1991, almost three decades ago.

The Greatest Showman opened to only $8,8 million in 2017 and went on to finish with a total domestic box office of $174 million.

That's a december release. And those always are very atypical, with rather small openings and huge legs for some. Look at Jumanji (2017) with $36 million opening weekend and $404 million total domestic gross. But not even a december release day could've saved Dark Fate from its dark fate.

I’m surprised that the audience score on RT hasn’t been nuked by the usual suspects.

Yet, the movie is still flopping hard despite the great audience score, which proves that Rotten Tomatoes doesn't matter all that much when it comes to box office, as some people might think. And also dismisses the idea that just some 'trolls' can bring down the box office of a movie, as the media is suggesting when is looking for scapegoats.

Does anybody know how the controversies surrounding Scarlett Johansson might affect this film’s box office performance? I’ve been noticing a lot of hate for her on social media, it seems to have cooled down a bit though.

Those 'controversies', if there are any, will actually help the movie's box office. Just like the Joker who is a breaking hit now.

Well what do you mean? I think there's ample evidence that he's a creep and a predator, but it's not relevant to this movie.

That is just your opinion. You're not exactly the Supreme Court of Law, aren't you?... other people may have some other opinions and are free to express it, it's called freedom of speech. But if those opinions aren't matching yours, what gives you the right to try to cancel the persons who expressed those opinions? And how long until you may have an unpopular opinion too, and there will be calls to cancel you too?

  9. Why Scarlett should be cancelled? Because a small group of people with extremely heightened sensibility, living in their own twitter echo chambers, feel offended by some of her opinions? This "cancel culture" needs to stop, or else soon almost everyone will be "cancelled". Just grow up and man up, guys...

I think it will be refreshing to get a movie from Mary's point of view. The last time that happened was John Ford's 1937 MARY OF SCOTLAND with Katherine Hepburn.

There is a 2004 TV film made by the BBC called "Gunpowder, treason & plot", which is basically two movies. The first movie it's about the life of Mary, Queen of Scots, and tells the story from her perspective. The second one it's about her son, James, King of Scotland and England, and about the 1605 plot to blow up the Parliament.

Both movies are very good, and i particularly liked the one about Mary, Queen of Scots.
