    This was baaaaaaaaad.

It's rare you get such unintentionally laugh-out-loud funny moments in modern blockbusters mainly because even the bad ones just play it safe and boring, but this has at least four moments that had me rolling on the floor for how amazingly ill-timed or badly executed they were.

Such a shame then that the rest of the movie is so fucking dull. You don't get to care about anybody, the storytelling is completely out-of-whack and unlike Ritchie's much better Sherlock Holmes movies it seems to be to no actual end, and when it came to the visuals and the action the prevailing philosophy seemed to be "just because". How on Earth Ritchie thought he could sell six movies of this when he couldn't even make sense with one is beyond me.

If it doesn't make sense to you doesn't means it doesn't make sense to others... I guess some are just slow learner....

  2. I actually watch the movie version before i knew there was a book version , and it was actually the movie version that hook me up to "I am Number Four" .... i did bought the book version and read it , but personally i prefer the movie version due to the mesmerising story line couple with that soothing background music that totally brought me into a story about ordinary life in a small town met with Alien invasion .....

I credit this mostly to Diana D' Agron who portray a stunning Sarah Hart who was a former cheer leader but realise she should find some soul searching about doing something truthful than continue her life as the football star girl friend ....... In doing so, D' Agron successfully portray a lonely figure who deal with the back stabbing and betrayal of her former friends with such a solitary charm..... It fully depict the title of her "story project"  Strangers in Paradise  ,  basically everyone is a stranger now with their own motive and hidden agenda....... only with the movie's interpretation of Sarah Hart that i found this character adorable , which is something i won't able to do solely by reading the book version..

and then there is John Smith , his character suit him well in the story and match him perfectly with Sarah, John is ultimately the stranger in the town with his secret , the acting was so calm and soothing without exaggerated acting ..his facial emotion was just so suiting for a likable hero, and he didn't carry that weird smirk of Clark Kent in smallville ...

The character interaction and chemistry  between John and Sarah is the soul of the movie , without the prejudice of the original book, this can be a stand alone wonderful movie about how a small town girl with talent manage to redeem herself by meeting the right person .... the scene where John save Sarah from the fall is actually much touching than the book version , the way how Sarah allow herself to be lead away from the scene by John is so charming and mesmerising..... I am number four is certainly a much better version of the boring smallville

as for the rest of the characters, they are all doing a good job in setting the role of supporting characters ... of course number six will play a leading role from Book 2 onward, but  I am number four had successfully set the tone for her character as her charming female anti-heroine ......

After reading what happen in Book six.  I miss the movie version of I am Number Four even more.... especially the truthful Sarah Hart will forever reside in my memory

  3. I am Number Four (2011)

I couldn't find the movie here..so i suppose it was not yet review ,  this is another under-rated movie for my opinion, the amount of interest shown after years of release shows that this is yet another cult movie... would like to give my own review of the movie as compare to the book version

Just finish watching the final episode of BEYOND.... I totally Loooove It !!! It had exceeded my expectation and surprised me wholly , especially with the "Happy" and positive ending ....
Before "Beyond"....I am actually tired of cliff hangers from other series where their main purpose is to hook audience with dis-satisfactory anxiety without a conclusive outcome, but Beyond had given us a sort of happier ending where the aim is to settle down a path/legacy of our main characters , to show them the good reward of a job well done, instead of putting them in an inconclusive horrible fate... before watching the final episode , i was predicting the ending will be either Willa or Holden drop from the bridge and one of them can't woke up.. needing the other to save them from season 2, but the producers grace us with such a happy ending where Holden and Willa united with the rest of other, while at the same time smartly lay out foundation for future adventure...
If there isn't any season 2, at least fans will be happy for the safe journey of our beloved characters... and the possible future outcome is less apparent (fans can always have their own fan fictions about them), however since there is a season 2.. it gives fans a good feeling to look forward for the new awaited adventures ... instead of worrying about the characters from previous cliff hanger... kudos to the production of Beyond

Next i want to talk about the lovable couple of Holden and Willa, without making it on purpose .. Holden and Willa appears to be one of the "Star-Crossed" lovers for my opinion, they need to experience through multiple difficulties whether they were emotional difficulties or physical difficulties to be together ... and their difference in personality also made it charming, Holden seems to be the more jolly guy who is not afraid to explore more emotion attachment with others, he can easily attached with other romance interests when Willa is not around, but at the same time, he will always remember the past with Willa and his sub-conscious tend to remind him who he truly hold dearest ...

As of Willa, she is truly portrayed as someone who is out of the real world , due to her calm and serene composure towards whatever emotional trauma , Willa was willing to accept the possible outcome where Holden had forgotten about her, but she herself never forget her love and caring towards Holden... instead of telling/reminding Holden that they were a couple in the "Realm", she simply told Holden they knew each other without forcing the issue , Willa will calmly attending to other tasks when Holden was neglecting her but at the same time constantly check on Holden's status and never hesitate to put her life before his ... we can see how Holden's brother regard Willa with an expression of "Awe", an expression and admiration that told us how Willa was different from other girls he met......

Beyond has both a good story line and attractive character interaction as well as good on screen chemistry to be an outstanding TV series

  5. I actually enjoy and like the movie... from a Neutral's perspective , there are soooo many super heroes movies and TV series these days , i basically give up relating which version is which version from the originals, especially Arrow who stole the league of Assassins from the Batman franchise and made Talia evil......

This version of Justice League seems fun to watch if i don't relate it to other spin-off... However i prefer the original Goodie-2-shoes Superman who was much more righteous and chivalrous..

This version of Superman is too sinister looking...

Congratulations, you've described 95% of all action movies.

And please refrain from ever telling me how you feel about Jackie Chan movies.

Not only jacky Chan, how about Face off when the entire army of law officers can't even kill the bad guys with all those bullets flying, and how about fast and furious franchise ?

actually John Wick show more vulnerability for the protagonist and like i mention in other  post , they keep count of ammunition reload ..unlike some action movies where basically everyone has infinite amount of ammunition to shoot everyone

Are you sure self-defense isn’t allowed? If you have to kill for your own safety because someone else is trying to break the rules, then I’m sure you’d get a pass.

The movie doesn't state specifically about the Continental rule, it just states no company business in continental ground... but even if self defense is allowed , there will be ambiguity as who is going to verify it ?  I suppose that was the reason John didn't kill miss perkins in the first episode, he initially just captured her without killing her..

and maybe that's why Winston has the authority to revoke a membership instead   of an execution .... For special case such as self defense , the manager has the authority to verify the act of revoking membership instead of execution .. Winston most likely told the High Table some "reason' behind John's act and they allow the judgement of "Excommunication" instead of an immediate execution by Winston ( which Winston demonstrated he could do that if he wanted at the end of the movie )

But the most intriguing part is what is the nature of the Blood Marker ... Is it an empty marker or it has someone else's mark in it?

Yeah but they they play up the myth-making two films in row. Doesn't really work when we've already seen him in action the first time round.

Still.. based on the logic within the film, those who had fought him mostly dead... so, people who are still living can only "imagine" what had happen..

Both Cassian and Ares will be happy that John spare their lives... so for them John is still the legend who beat them;-)

Had the same reaction to this as the first one: good but overpraised. One very specific thing that annoys me about both films is what I call "Jack Sparrow syndrome": other characters constantly talk about the myth of Wick and how he's completely unstoppable but then the action scenes show him as really quite vulnerable and frequently reliant on good luck, which of course he has to be otherwise there'd be no dramatic tension. Not a deal-breaker, but there is a bit of disconnect between the telling and the showing.

Not really, It actually show how it happens in real world , most people ..like us, love to exaggerated  the happenings of a tide, to make more of a myth and story ... people simply like to invent a hero among themselves

the fact that the movie make John vulnerable is to avoid John Wick 2 as another larger than life movie such as that "car action movie" , in fact if you watch it closely, John constantly look at the ammunition of his arsenal, which i appreciate because some movie just assume everyone has unlimited ammunition where ever they go

I have no gripes with this film. This isn't a gripe so much as a suggestion.

Does anyone think that John should have goaded Santino into trying to shoot first at the Continental, like calling him a coward and weaker than his sister? That way, killing Santino would have been a self-defense kill and membership privileges would have remained.

I can understand John's impulse to kill Santino out of rage, though.

John's personality is a professional no nonsense guy, unlike Santino he doesn't manipulate his action or his words ..

Anyway, it won't matter whether it was self defense or not... the rules clearly state no killing in company ground

  11. Doctor Strange is all right, not considering the movie over rated, mainly because many had hated this movie even before it came out, hence i think Doctor strange is all right

But Wonder Woman, is definitely over rated and over hyped, for my opinion ...

yeah it's a freaky idea and I am pretty sure it was in the tv show as well.  But they made a change for the movie and it looks like it works from the trailer.  Plus it probably was easier to do effects wise as well

Ya agree... i think part one was more scarier, with the Clown as the main antagonist , and they face the clown in the end... one classical scene was when a kid hit his head with a silver bullet, the clown's head crack a hole like an egg... LOL

the 2nd part is when the clown become a big scaly monster, which i think is less scary than the first

read another chapter and got to the part they obviously changed for the movie where they are all going through the photo album and It comes out of the picture.  Obviously, they are changing to the slide projector for the movie which I think was a nice touch actually

I believe the original movie was depicting IT coming out from the photo album too..pretty scary for me then

I just read that this movie will be split into 2 Parts with the 1st movie being about the kids and the 2nd movie when they're adults.. This true??? I mean, there's no way possible to cram a 1000 pages into a 2 hour movie and do so accurately and that goes for The STAND as well...

Actually this was exactly how the older version was done, i can't remember when was the original IT movies because i was a very small kid then..

Now, i am talking about the original movie long ago, not this version ...so i hope it is not consider as Spoilers

I remember for the first movie, it started with some adults trying to gather their old buddies and talk about "IT" is back, one guy killed himself and the story went back to their childhood .. about how they were strangers at first but band together as they realise there was an entity that feed on human flesh... the story end with them confronting IT and defeating it..

the 2nd movie continue their quest as adult and as usual , confronting IT once again towards the end

  15. All right... for there is Shadow, there must be Light. Given how much Hates this movie received from Hypocrites and haters alike, i feel like i must come out to defend it.

King Arthur Legend of The Sword is absolutely a classical masterpiece by non other than Guy Ritchie himself. Ritchie had again injected refreshing new life into a supposedly out-dated legend, just like he did with Sherlock Holmes.

King Arhur Legend of the Sword is fast-paced, integrated with charming background music that gave several scenes a mesmerising and enchanted memorable moment , i especially adored by the scene where Morgana (or the Mage) chanting her spell in an attempt to rescue Arthur along with other allies, the music was "The Born King" which  started when Arthur was lead to the executioner table and the camera switch to the scene where Morgana started to chant her spell, Morgana's depiction of a charismatic witch was simply flawless with the way she moved her lips uttering the chant and gesturing her fingers lightly in preparation of her spell.. This i insist that "The Born King" was such a perfect music that it blend in so well with the scene switching back and forth between Arthur and Morgana, leading up to Arthur's rescue..... While there had been many fancy spell casting scenes in the past, whether they were from super hero movies, modern magician movies or even horror movies , non of them had attempted to portray spell casting as an artistic, stylish and enigmatic "Art" ,  it didn't require exaggerating shouting and hand waving manner just to tell people that you are casting a spell now... all it took was Morgana's facial twisting expression( with penetrating eyes staring) accompany by her light uttering of lips movement, plus the slight hand gesture and ending it with her head raising from a bow ... you will understand that a powerful spell had been cast to bewitch the animals and "possibly" humans too, personally i dare said that Morgana had change "some" , if not "most" people's prejudice towards Witch craft , Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey had been well chosen to play as the Mage or Morgana in the movie.

As many had known that Mordred, the supposedly King Arthur's nemesis in the original legend had been slain in the opening of the movie, hence who will be Arthur's Bane next ? Based on my own prediction and interpretation , this version of King Arthur may bring Lancelot as the main Villain instead, 10 years back i had once read a novel who shared my same view, in which Lancelot was the villain , instead of the hero in most legend. For my personal deduction, if there are sequels to be film... the story may continue where Arthur and Morgana started to grow their feeling for each other, but due to internal political strife.. Arthur MUST marry a woman of noble born in order to bring unity to all Nobles , and obviously he must cut his relationship with Morgana because NO ONE will accept a Witch to be their queen, although Arthur was reluctant to obey at first but internal strife threaten to destroy the Realm altogether , and with the invasion of Vikings inevitable . Arthus had no choice to marry Guinevere and this resulted in Morgana running away when her heart was broken. However, soon to be review that Guinevere will BETRAY Arthur and she had secret relationship with Lancelot who rise up to dethrone Arthur's reign ... With the news of Arthur in grave peril, Morgana tried to rush back to save Arthur once more...

Well, my deduction may seem outlandish but giving that in Sherlock Holmes, Irene Adler .. another charismatic roguish figure had been made into Sherlock's romance interest , it is not impossible Morgana may be alter into Arthur's romance interest as well.. Both Irene Adler and Morgana shared similar background, they are both intelligent, brave and charismatic mysterious figures that spent their entire life living in a dark, sinister and cruel world with merciless men who won't think twice about turning their back on the ladies, but with the naivety but honourable Arthur and Holmes, these ladies knew that both Arthur and Holmes won't betray or harm them... thus it is logical to imagine  Morgana can fall for Arthur here

Oh yeah, there was also the symbolic sign where an Eagle was carrying a Snake which i think is authentic, normally Eagle had been depicted as a symbol for Good and Righteous while the Snake is a sign of Evil or sinister, but seeing them working together maybe give a hint that there shouldn't be prejudice to all life as all life are equal..

And well, last but not least ...King Arthur Legend of the Sword is an excellent movie, i rated it A+ for my opinion

  16. After watching the movie few times..don't laugh, because there are some of us who will do that, i know at least 2 had watched it six times... i was mesmerised with the scene with some unique background music, and end up wanting to deduce the movie more ...

    Spoiler

I like it especially with the music "The Born King"  who attached it with the scene where Morgana and others trying to rescue Arthur from being beheaded , the music play with the moment when Arthur was lead to the execution table, and Morgana started to utter her spell with such flair and elegant ... her lips movement with the slight gesture of her finger in wielding the spell gave it such a stylish and elegant scene that display "here is how you will cast your spell in awe..."  , as oppose to the laughable previous interpretation on how a witch usually chant her spell .., and with the scene switch  back and forth between Arthur and Morgana, Morgana's spell slowly change the pace in slow motion until the Eagle had landed.. it was such a classic scene and i am not sure whether "The Born King" was meant to compliment Arthur or Morgana instead ? But the music match that scene so well that i think it was all right to compliment them both..

some people comment that "The Born King" will suit well into the pc game "The witcher" too.....ahemm, well, it could be because Morgana is a Witch too right?  but I believe Morgana play her role so well that it might actually give a good name to the witch..

By the way, some of my thought after watching the movie, ahemmm... few times,  was it the producer reluctant to use the term "Witch" in the movie and change it to a more moderate term of "Mage" instead? I understand Witch had somehow become a notorious term lately, but in truth, Witch is just another specialist profession in the Wizard world, a male witch is called a warlock, as in the case of Mordred ... i am wondering if they had called her "The Witch", it might generate more outcry from those "Righteous" people who just like to lecture us what is right and wrong...

    Spoiler

Then, anyone notice that Mordred was slain in the beginning of movie ? so who will be Arthur's bane next, it will be illogical to simply bring him back alive later.. so this may run concurrent with my theory that Lancelot should be the bane of Arthur in this version, this universe of King Arthur..

For those who complain the characters look too "CLEAN" in the "Old medieval Times".... this is a Fantasy Medieval story, NOT a History Lesson, don't tell me the critics actually thought this is what happen in the history channel ...... this story happen in a parallel universe , some universe has super heroes running around looking clean, a universe has King Arthur ruling in it...  By the way, why don't those critics say anything about someone named Hela breaking the Hammer of Thor? In the Norse mythology, Thor's Hammer is invincible ...basically these movies made Thor's Hammer look like a child's play , and i thought Thor's Hammer is supposed to be Sacred for their culture....

Last, but not least ,I would also like to bring up some observation or deduction of my own, in Guy ritchie's sherlock holmes, wasn't that Irene Adler, a supposedly rogue who only have a brief appearance in one of the original sherlock adventure, being made into sort of romance interest for sherlock holmes ? the irony is that the same Morgana, who was a roguish character in the original legend, can be made into Arthur's romance interest as well ?

The general logic is that both Irene Adler and Morgana had been living their life in cruel, dark and sinister life with merciless men who would one day turn on them mercilessly ( as it happened for the case of Irene Adler), but in Holmes and Arthur, they will find the safety and security they are longing for, because they know both Arthur and Holmes are such naive that they will still bail them out of troubles if the ladies stay in good term with them. So it is logic that Morgana can fall for Arthur too.. and the scene where the Eagle carrying the snake, Eagle had been symbolised as righteous and good mostly, while the snake had always being an Evil incarnation for most people's belief... but the Eagle willingly working together with the snake show that both polar opposite world can be brought together for a common goal.. well, an indication of Arthur can be with Morgana too ?

Yeah man, I appreciate your passion and I did feel that this movie is underrated as well because it feels so different from what people are expecting from a King Arthur story but sadly there will indeed be no sequel to this movie as the studio apparently will lose dozens of millions of dollars on this movie, you can google it and see the news. It's a shame but it is what it is, hopefully some day they will make a King Arthur movie that can actually make some money.

I hope Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will be able to have a different fate from this in a couple of months... That is another movie that looks real good.

Hmm.. i guess even with the DVD sales, it won't help much.....  actually the cost for a sequel should be less, since they can re-use the equipment , items and some of the scene, hope miracle do happen :)

If there is really no sequel, then the good thing is it is up to fans for their own interpretation on what happen next.. things will always live in our own dream

If i am not mistaken, traditionally ALL fantasy films suffer ill-fate except for Lords of The rings, because wizardry , dragons and knights are not for everyone's taste ... Lord of The Rings was smart to manipulate the title into sort of historical movie and they change lots of heroic staff into focusing on the humble humanity, like they change Aragorn larger than life heroic story into a mere humble king and focus about how a humble hobbit can change the world, this sort of things are perfect for critics and they can accept it..

There will be no second movie for this iteration of King Arthur.  It's a bomb in the U.S., and not very successful worldwide vs. what was spent on it.

That is what i heard and i felt sad..... even over seas fans are hoping there will be a sequel,  This movie will be another Cult Classic that love by many and under appreciated ..

Just like Sarah Connor Chronicles, good TV series that inspired and loved by many fans, but just don't get enough people into appreciating it ..

That still doesn't betray the fact King Arhur Legend of the sword is good classic, although a cult classic ..

I don't like it because it's a sloppy film. Guy Ritchie threw a lot of stuff on the wall and created a mess. Somewhere in there is a decent blockbuster, but it gets dragged down by so much stuff.

I don't think it is sloppy and a mess, the mood and setting is perfect for a dream like medieval fantasy story ... maybe you can provide some scene where you feel it was sloppy and confusing?  we can discuss about it? Well... for movies and tv series i like, i used to join a forum and talk  about it, explaining some ambiguous scene based on my interpretation .... of course that's only my vision of it..

Just like "Sucker Punch", another cult classic which i felt under rated, i put in lots of my own thought about it regarding what really happen there...LOL

First of all welcome to the forums! I hope you'll stick around, this is a great community!

Second, I agree with your views regarding this movie but I do enjoy the other movies you crapped on while expressing your views so ehhhh.

Well, I'm glad you went to watch it after all.

My apology for involving other movies into it..LOL, but it was a mere expressing of an honest feeling, had been watching lots of movies for past 2 years.. but normally i chose to keep it quiet within myself and not criticizing any of it (because i don't intend to becoming a hater myself).. but watching King Arthur Legend of the sword brought some life into me and reignite some of my movie passion... i haven't felt that intriguing about a movie in a long time (approximately 2 years, even though there were loads of "good" movies where i forgot their names ), reading some bad comments from critics and haters alike kind of push me into leaving a comment or two of my own, and in doing it i release some of the hidden feeling about other movies (my personal opinion anyway)

Umm.. well, i don't understand why someone thought it is sloppy, maybe i have to reply that person in another reply...LOL

in comparison between this version of King Arthur and the one by Clive Owen + Kiera Knightny(i forgot her surname), i felt this one actually brought some authentic and unique element into it, Clive Owen version was the one that tried too ard to impress the critics with a traditional and rigid portray of the Legend, and even so it didn't do too well either, Legend of the sword brought some  likable chemistry between the characters, especially between Arthur and the Mage(i think she is Morgana), now this is a cute and unique couple that rival the famed John Connor and Cameron Philips ( from TV series sarah connor chronicles).. in the sense that it is a mysterious relationship that cross between trusted ally and love, they didn't need to talk too much and even expressing some lovable feeling openly, but with the few words that they utter, it feels like they understand each other and trusted each other..and it had the argument of a foolish trust that was explainable, can a guy trust a witch that wield dark magic just like can john connor trust a cyborg who was program to kill him, and told him that "she" love him ? Just like John connor, Arthur hold destined responsibility on his shoulder  and he made a gamble into trusting a lady who he may had a feeling for .. I am glad it was not Guinevere who appear in the movie, because if it was Guinevere i will less interested , i hope the producer didn't actually turn guinevere's character into a Morgana like witch... because i believe Morgana as the Mage is enough to transform a new legend, and i never like Guinevere , she was never Arthur's true love, their marriage is out of politics and she BETRAY him... but for Morgana, conflicting legend told that she actually was the one that truly love Arthur, as a powerful witch, she can easily slay Arthur if she really wanted to..  Arthur is so naive that even Merlin can't protect him all the time... so for my interpretation , Morgana actually tried to warn Arthur of Guinevere and Lancelot's betrayal ...

Hence , after watching this first movie , i felt like maybe the producer is going with this direction ? Hopefully in the 2nd movie, Mage is review as Morgana and she was heart broken when Arthur need to marry Guinevere out of politics to please nobles alike, but the Mage never betray Arthur, she tried to warn him when Lancelot join the round table (Lancelot was actually a villain in one of the arthurian novel i read, i forgot the title unfortunately because i stand reading it in a book store one whole day without buying it, i should had bought it then).. Arthur doesn't listen because he is so naive, so the Mage/Morgana left but when she heard that Arthur had been betray, she will rush back trying to save him but she was too late and Lancelot blame her in his plots, Morgana needs to change her identity into Merlin in order to rally Arthur's force (because no one will trust a witch), The Mage didn't manage to save Arthur but she help crush Lancelot's force, and she preserve Arthur's body... In order to make Arthur a true legend, Morgana took the blame herself and create a heroic legend for the person she love .... Sound like too much of a fan fiction right? But i believe this will make the legend and story more refreshing to watch....  so i really hope this is going to be the direction ahead :)

  21. I think King ARthur:Legend Of the Sword is a fantastic movie, just because many people don't appreciate this movie, it doesn't mean it is bad... In fact, many viewers who watch this movies agree with me.

This movie is such a refreshing as compare to the tons of BORING super heroes franchise and fast & Furious yawning franchise..

First of all, the character interaction is good, the fantasy setting was nice and it gave new life to legendary characters.... I especially intrigued with the character "The Mage", who i believe is the fable Morgana. It gave a refreshing idea on Morgana was on other's side , Morgana's understanding on dark art/ witch craft is exactly what Arthur needs to help him in a treacherous realm..

As for those who argue that they prefer originality , then why don't they argue it with all those super heroes movies ? Did they follow any originality at all? The haters of King Arthur are just bunch of HYPOCRITES who thought they are the righteous persons in the world and know what is right or wrong...

Many viewers enjoy this movie and we are longing for a new twist in the story line , a new interpretation of this legends.. Hope the rest of the 5 sequels will be made
