Is that me or the end of the year is gonna suck in terms of box office?
Apart from Ralph Breaks the Internet and Fantastic Beasts 2 what do we have?
Venom - October 4
Grinch - November 8
Aquaman - December 13
Bumblebee - December 20
Mary Poppins - December 20 (not sure how that'll do)
there will probably be more developments before year end

The major release of this summer will be The Incredibles 2 that's for sure, the potential is really high for an animated movie!
Especially with the lack of good animated movies this year. A little bit worried about the schedule
June 21 - JW
28 - Incredibles 2
July 5 - Ant man
July 12 - Hotel Transylvania
A lot back to back (at the same time as world cup). 2014 box office hung in well during world cup (in Brazil)

Are you saying this by looking at some data or just predictions?
You mean in terms of grosses or demos? There's no data for grosses (presales are inaccurate, especially lately). I'm basing the demo off limited data and my impression of the two movies.

Wait, so are you saying you think it could have an even smaller preview share of OD?
Yes, multiple will probably be smaller, but still looking like a big OW. Late night shows are selling well given its broad appeal.

Not that I at all think this will actually pan out, but just for the hell of it if the previews are 15m and you give it the same preview share as Dory, the OW goes 220.
I2 is probably going to tilt younger audience than Dory.

Thank you very much This gives a better sight of the real increase of the market.
@Fullbuster I don't think FilmeB does a total YTD, but through last weekend, top 10 films YTD:
2018: R$833M
2017: R$820M
Just looking at the top 10 is actually probably not representative of the overall box office, which looks to be down YTD in local currency.
Looks like down about 10% YTD (through last weekend) in local currency. Will be interesting to see how that develops with some of the blockbusters coming out given the overlap with world cup.

Isn't JW2 opening this weekend? I really don't know, it's pretty confusing. The official posters and the TV comercials here in Brazil say it's opening on June 21, but there are already many theatres with tickets available for tomorrow, and in some other places (for example the theatre I usually go) you can only buy tickets for June 16 (saturday). I have no idea what's happening, and how the OW is going to be counted.
It is in previews starting this weekend 699 theaters. Officially release next weekend.

Anyway I'm waiting for some numbers from people with actual sources. Not fanboys who are just guessing.
Not a guess. Some people try to figure things out themselves rather than depending completely on the only two other sources.

Do you have sources you got that from or is it a guess?
Projections from publicly available sources.

Please stop asking me that silly, "why do you want this movie to bomb?" question. I will never respond to that whiny question so it's just a waste of space to ask it.
It's also a waste of space for you to post it every 5 minutes.

I will always believe that Lord and Miller got a raw deal due to Kennedy's indecisiveness when it comes to the new Star Wars movies. I see it as karma that the film is bombing.
Why do you want a film to bomb so bad when you haven't even seen it?

Like I said yesterday, this is going to have good legs. Much better movie than TLJ. Saturday could break $30M

That's the same boat that I am in. I liked TLJ and look forward to the next Episode but I didn't care for Rogue One much and I think Solo looks lame and thus I'm not wasting my time with it. Not everyone who is against Solo hated TLJ.
Not a very reliable source if you haven't even seen the movie.

I'm projecting Thursday at the lower end (or slightly under) of Deadline's range. After seeing the movie and the social media reaction, I feel good about its legs.

Wondering if we can possibly summon Rth to get a sense at just how ready this film is for prime time.
The 12.5M Deadline estimate (and 13M HR) are solid estimates.

Apparently JW last weekend was R$15.1 which doesn't really make sense.
