Ant-man drop is typical for a sequel of a Marvel film. The number for Skyscraper isn't good but far from a bomb. The 125 price tag is actually kind of modest.
62% drop seems like a lot? Compared to other Marvel films arent they usually 55%? Especially when its coming off a smaller opening anyway it should not be dropping quite that much.
and i would say it is a flop - 25M opening in summer is what, 65M total maybe? on a 125M budget. Thats not good. Unless it smashes it in CHina which is possible .

wow that Ant-Man drop is nasty. also since when does skyscraper cost 125M? BOMB. at least it has China next week.

“You see that girl in Wonder Woman. Whoa! Sometimes I’m just home and there’s Wonder Woman, in the middle, wherever. I don’t care. I’ll look at it five minutes a day just to watch what she does. She is something!”
Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this is a bit weird.

The Lion King has the best chance out of all of the upcoming announced films.
I think you meant AVATAR 2.

That’s a great international weekend and total for Oceans 8. Big start here in the U.K. despite the hot weather.
Jurassic Worlds holdover markets (week 3, not including China or the 3 big openings) drops under 40% by the look of things.
Big start? $6M over 7 day opening is not big.

No, it’s bad. Let’s not try to defend this bad gross in China.
Well what number would be good? China is a market that does not like animated films. Looks like it will be Pixar's biggest film after Coco.

-95% drop for wrinkle in time. Where have all the audience gone this weekend??

Damn, that’s an awful gross for Incredibles 2 in China
No, that's decent. Most original animated films do poorly in China, 21M opening is good. If you look at smash hits like Coco and Zootopia, they started small and then broke out. The only animated films that have big opening is Despicable Me, I think.

It won't reach the 400M, let alone the 412M of WW.
Why not? It would only need a 2.7x to get to 400? Doesn't seem too hard for a Jurassic Park film.

It's unconventional to start with spinoffs but yes Avengers was always the main franchise.
They knew it from the get go.
Like if there were Yoda and Solo prequels before A New Hope.
This is so stupid backward reasoning
I think you know you are wrong.

Hmm.
The number of spin offs is a testament to the source material.
How many Jurassic World spin offs are making over 200 m DOM and 700 m WW?
Really? Iron Man is a spin off? What is it a spin off from?

Broader audience reach?
*Looks at BP and IW current BO*
I didn't say bigger, I said broader, the age for example is much wider for Jurassic Park because the franchise is 25 years old so there are a lot of middle aged adults who like Jurassic Park. Whereas Marvel Cinematic Universe is only 10 years old so most of the people who grew up with it are very young still, which is why it's frontloaded. There are not many middle aged people who like Marvel because that makes them sad.

I guess as a Marvel fan I must admit defeat.
I mean. 350 m DOM could happen..
That number is really...something.
Yep, it would be higher than Thor, Thor 2, Thor 3, Captain America, Captain America 2, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Doctor Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man, Spider-Man Homecoming, and Guardians of the Galaxy. For a box office flop that is not too bad.

Shrek 2 adjusted opening weekend is $190M. Also Shrek 2 is a much better film than Incredibles 2. Nothing will beat Shrek 2 the only animated film capable is The Lion King next year.
Just now, Jonwo said:Mamma Mia! cost $52m originally, I imagine this will be around the same, maybe slightly more.
it will be a lot more than that because the actors will have bigger salaries due to the first film doing so well.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again might end up being more profitable than both JWFK and Grinch if it makes $400-550m WW
It'd be good to have the original characters back with Owen and Claire, I think making Jurassic World 3 the 'final' film would work before Universal decides to reboot it or do a prequel trilogy.
Mamma Mia will cost best part of 100M to produce, and big marketing costs as well, if it made 500M I don't think it would turn more profit than Jurassic World which will gross over $1 billions.

Okay I said 25%.
How much will FK drop with 140 m OW and standard 2.5 legs?
Why would a film like Jurassic World that doesn't have fans like Marvel, and has a much broader audience reach, only have 2.5x legs?
Just because 2.5 is standard for Avengers does not mean it is standard for other films.

No its not the same.
120 is huge for an animated movie.
Not as big as Shrek 2's opening of 190M.

We need an actual dinosaur clone to know their appearance for certain.
What could possibly go wrong?
Are there any dinosaurs left on this forum or have they all gone?

Given the $187 million budget, this movie was going to be successful no matter what.
Not if it grossed $186 million.

That's actually a great idea, as science learns more information about these creatures, the films themselves which are set in present day can reflect that. They are creating dinosaurs in Jurassic Park in 2018 so surely they can use 2018's knowledge.

Now that the goal past has been moved down to 400 m DOM here comes the shit talking Brontosaurus and Stegosaurus nerds.
Well this might be your last chance so get those licks in now, I guess.
What do you mean "moved down"? I thought I saw you say a few pages ago that it would be impossible for Jurassic World to reach 350M. So hasn't the goal post moved up?
Perhaps I am just confusing you with another user! Apologies if so!
