Which format did you enjoy GxK most?
Imax, then 4dx.
But truth to be told, today's IMAX lacked the feeling, i watched it in different theater, maybe there was some difference in screen quality or something.
-
So far I've watched the movie thrice, 2 times IMAX 3d and once 4dx 3d.

What year is it, 2010?? Sorry to hear that. Thankfully 3D has basically died in my area.In India 3d is a rage, i personally don't like it but if i want to watch movies with crowd then i have to go to 3d show.
Plus all premium formats like IMAX and 4dx are in 3d.

I am actually quite surprised by GxK having a A- cinemascore. The movie stay pretty stable at 93% on VA which normally should translate to A.
I think it's a big scale, A- here should be closer to A than say something like Dominion which got A- but me think it was closer to B+.

While some of you debate 'Dune' vs. 'GxK' Zaslav is saying "why not both?". WB is putting out hit after hit.
Who is debating this, there's no Dube vs GxK.
Both different types of movies, both doing good at box office, both have given audience a good time in theater.
Coexistence is the key, there's also Kung Fu Panda doing well with them.

I mean, they don't say Force Awakens because being part of the Sequel Trilogy is a massive asterisk, not because it doesn't have a legit dom record. If your franchise is bad/devalued enough its accomplishments won't be recognized or remembered. Nobody remembers Revenge of the Fallen except the Puerto Rico enthusiasts on here.
It's more like when you count, most records are measured from Worldwide.
Highest Grossing is automatically thought as Worldwide, for Domestic you have to add Domestic specially.

To be fair, if combine China and Japan OW, Dune 2 WW OW would be 200M.
Well then it should've released there too at same time, but it didn't.
GxK also isn't released in few places, including Japan where it'll release next month.

WW - Done
Us - Almost done
Dom - Will likely miss due to Canada. Dune 2 $10M in Canada and GxK be $6M.
Well overall is what matters at the end of the day.
When people ask which is highest grossing movie of all time, answer is Avatar, no one says Force Awakening unless you add domestic.
So Godzilla & Kong have won where it matters the most.

This is surprising to me. So many people I talked to felt that 'Godzilla x Kong' looked like it "jumped the shark" so I am pleased that it was only anecdotal evidence of the franchise slowing down. Looks like the franchise is bigger than ever...
What Internet calls jumping the shark is what general audience call craziness.
Also truth to be told there was not much jumping the shark here, People said all that because Godzlla and Kong were moving faster and jumping.
That's all.

GxK should sell a lot of merchandise because of the film. The new power glove Kong and Godzilla Funko Pop figures won't be back in stock for another 3 weeks on Amazon.
That's why they gave Godzilla a new look in the movie.
These Monsters sell like cupcakes for WB.
Won't be surprised if Godzilla get new colors in next one and Kong gets some more gadgets.

Are there capacity issues at some places? It released on 3.8k screens compared to 4k+ of Ghostbusters.

Interesting in RT Top Critic score has gone up from 29 to 35 and overall has gone down from 60 to 56.
Audience score is climbing with 93% currently.

Naa now everything gets 9+. Ratings are manipulated so doesn't really matter.
That's bad, is there no genuineness left in the world, what happened to the ethics.

Because of business in China being down?

Godzilla x Kong MiniTC2 Final
Previews - 14252/56235 (218 showings) $190K

Very early, but started with 92% verified audience on RT
Seems strong to me, i was expecting A- on CS but maybe it can try A again
Actually started with 90%, had gone to 92% which is good for a franchise with more general audience base than die hard fans.

I don't think there is anything abnormal happening here. It's a sequel to film which would have opened $90-110M, $70-80M OW is pretty much par course.
Inflation adj Monster Verse openings
G 2014 - 125
Skull Island - 75
KOTM - 58GvK (in normal times) - 90-110
I would need more than Skull Island adjusted.
Also GvK was a different beast entirely, Godzilla Kong for first time, in a versus movie.
-
Worst of Monsterverse is better than most of Bayformers.
I would say that Transformers would've been as good as Monsterverse had they avoided extra focus on sexual innuendos, rasict jokes, and actually making transformers distinguishable from each other.
Monsterverse for most part is straightforward, atleast you can see different monsters look distinguished from each other, action is clearer and less sex & rasicm.
Also no I'm standing below the scrotum of enemy stuff.

Yeah, let's forget about critics and social media influencers. Movie has hit the theaters and people are going to watch it. And whatever their judgement is, is what matters at the end.

Currently at 60% after 74 reviews (might be at 64% coz lol RT's servers during Tomato Watch forever and always amen).
....
For that matter LOL WB for waiting so long to drop reviews if it really is gonna be borderline fresh/rotten. They could have easily dropped them on Tue without skipping a beat (IMO),
I think with Top Critics not liking it at all, they didn't want to risk it.

Just few minutes and I've seem someone complaining about Minus One and Humans.
Yeah, critics are dumb.

I do agree with you that even these movies need an emotional core that makes you care about the carnage thats happening on screen. However, i think GvK showed that this core musnt be necessarily be found with the human characters. King Kong was by all accounts the protagonist of GvK and the most empathetic character (along with the deaf girl) and it seemed to have worked.
And with GxK now, Kong probably remains that emotional core and protagonist. After all, audiences will have an easier time rooting for a nearly human-like giant ape than a big lizard.
I think that's the point of difference between Jurassic and Monsterverse.
Monsterverse can have likes of Kong do the emotional heavy lifting, for Jurassic you can kill the Brachiosaurus, but you'll still need people to do some lifting.

No, only Jia and her mother had for obvious reasons, and Kong in scenes where he talked in sign language.
