First batch number from mostly family film

Did DS movie end its run yet?

I think more like 700K is max we can expect and that's more than enough we expected. 2nd Sunday dropped 30% plus in Paris, which is weirdly high than all I have seen till now. Could have easily done 155K with a normal drop.

The last weekend, the weather was sunny and good.

Most movies will drop -50/-60% this week compared to the previous one and new releases won't start high. However as the weather will worsen next Wednesday, those will maintain pretty well next week.

DS will definitely stay in theaters as long as it is in the top 10. Also the offering for teens will be pretty low until at least mid-June. 1M admissions is definitely on the table - didn't happen for a japanese movie in 10+ years.

Demon Slayer 1st on Saturday. Family movies making their usual comeback during weekends.

There's a slight but low chance that Demon Slayer could be #1 this week (it will depend of its performance on the next three days). It would be the first time for a Japanese movie since Howl's Moving Castle back in January 2005... But honestly I think Adieu les cons will stay #1 by a small margin as it will perform better on Mon/Thu.

However there's a clear, summer weather in France this week until next Wednesday. Pretty much every movie will drop hard (-50% to -60%). But the following week will see the comeback of rain and thunder.

    :ohmygod:

Didn't expect movie with small target audience could comeback no.1 on the 2nd sat.

"However there's a clear, summer weather in France this week until next Wednesday. Pretty much every movie will drop hard (-50% to -60%). But the following week will see the comeback of rain and thunder."

You mean this week until next wednesday, all movie will drop hard? Until the week after that?

How long can DS movie stay in the cinema you think?

  7. 12 minutes ago, LPLC said:

Yes but we could witness a larger drop because last Monday was a holiday which inflated the numbers. The result of the week could be closer to 50% drop and less than 200k admissions. Let's set 200k admissions for the week.

Moreover, the income of BOM for the weekend appeared :

    Demon Slayer: 273,113 admissions / $2,259,715M

    ATP : $8.27

If Demon Slayer's final box office is around 700k-900k admissions, then a final box office around $5.8M- $7.4M can be expected.

The ATP is quite low.... sad....I thought it was more than $9

    35% weekly drop? Wow

  9. 21 hours ago, LPLC said:

I may have been a little conservative.

Comparing to Broly, this is what the first 5 days of Demon Slayer could look like :

    Wednesday: 59k admissions

    Thursday: 24k admissions

    Friday: 37k admissions

    Saturday: 93k admissions

    Sunday: 102k admissions

    Total: 315k admissions by sunday.

Monday will be big too and will look like Wednesday, and Tuesday will be like Thursday. So 400k admissions in the first week is possible.

Do you know how much admits for Friday?
